Beauce-Sartigan
Beauce-Sartigan is a regional county municipality in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec, Canada. The county seat is Saint-Georges. The Chaudière River flows through it. It shares its eastern border with Maine, United States. The name of the RCM is linked to the historical region of which it is part, Beauce. Sartigan is a distortion of ''Mechatigan'' (or ''Msakkikhan''), the name given to the Chaudière River by the native Abenakis. Lac-Poulin is a village in the Beauce-Sartigan Regional County Municipality in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec, Canada. Its population was 171 as of 2021. Lac-Poulin is an enclave of Saint-Benoît-Labre. Lac-Poulin is named after the lake it surrounds (Poulin), which was named after the first settler Claude Poulin. The first settlers QUEBEC included Claude Poulin (1614-1687) a carpenter, born in St Maclou, Rouen, Normandie, France and his wife Jeanne Mercier (1621-1687)born in Luçon, Eure-et-Loir, Centre, France. Saint-Georges () is a city in the province of Quebec. It is the seat of Beauce-Sartigan Regional County Municipality, part of the Chaudière-Appalaches region. The population was 32,935 as of the Canada 2021 Census. Route 173 runs through Saint-Georges Est (where it is known as Boulevard Lacroix) and heads south to the border with Maine, USA. The name of the parish and of the city, Saint-Georges, is in homage to George Pozer, the fourth seigneur of Aubert-Gallion. The Beauce-Etchemin School Board (''Commission scolaire de la Beauce-Etchemin'') has its headquarters on 118th Street. Saint-Georges is home to the Cégep Beauce-Appalaches. In 2002, it amalgamated with Saint-Georges-Est (pop. 4,110), Aubert-Gallion (pop. 2,444) and Saint-Jean-de-la-Lande (pop. 786). The official spelling given by the Commission de toponymie uses an en dash after "Saint-Côme", but the town's own website uses a second hyphen: Saint-Côme—Linière. The population is 3,278 as of 2021. Saint-Côme–Linière was constituted by the amalgamation of the parish municipality of Saint-Côme-de-Kennebec and the village of Linière on August 17, 1994.
