Willi Baumeister (22 January 1889 – 31 August 1955) was a German painter, scenic designer, art professor, and typographer. His work was part of the art competitions at the 1928 Summer Olympics and the 1932 Summer Olympics. Life Born in Stuttgart in 1889, Baumeister completed an apprenticeship as a decorative painter in his native city from 1905 to 1907, followed by military service (fall 1907–1908). During his apprenticeship, Baumeister also began art studies at the Stuttgart Art Academy (Königlich Württembergische Akademie) (1905–1906), attended Robert Poetzelberger’s drawing class, and took additional lessons from Josef Kerschensteiner. In 1906 he resumed his apprenticeship and, in 1907, completed the trade test. Following his military service, Baumeister continued his studies at the art academy. Roy Baumeister
Roy F. Baumeister (; born May 16, 1953) is an American social psychologist who is known for his work on the self, social rejection, belongingness, sexuality and sex differences, self-control, self-esteem, self-defeating behaviors, motivation, aggression, consciousness, and free will. Education and academia Baumeister earned his A.B. from Princeton University and his M.A. from Duke University. He returned to Princeton University with his mentor Edward E. Jones and earned his Ph.D. from the university's Department of Psychology in 1978. Baumeister then taught at Case Western Reserve University from 1979 to 2003, serving as a professor of psychology and later liberal arts. He later worked at Florida State University as the Francis Eppes Eminent Scholar and head of the social psychology graduate program. Herb Baumeister
Herbert Richard Baumeister (April 7, 1947 – July 3, 1996) was an American businessman and suspected serial killer. A resident of the Indianapolis suburb of Westfield, Indiana, Baumeister was under investigation for murdering over a dozen men in the early 1990s, most of whom were last seen at gay bars. Police found the remains of eleven men, eight identified, on Baumeister's property. Baumeister committed suicide after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was later linked to a series of murders of at least twelve men along Interstate 70, which occurred in the early to mid-1980s. Geertruida Christina "Truus" Baumeister (21 October 1907 – 25 December 2000) was a Dutch freestyle swimmer who won a gold medal in the 4 × 100 m relay at the 1931 European championships. Swimming career In 1928, Baumeister competed in the 400 m and 4 × 100 m events at the 1928 Summer Olympics. She was eliminated at 3rd place in the first heat of the 400 m freestyle. The Dutch team of Eva Smits, Maria Vierdag, Marie Braun and Baumeister came in a close third, but were disqualified because Baumeister had jumped to early in the water at her changeover. Baumeister made amends in 1931 when she and her team won gold in the 4 × 100 m relay at the 1931 European championships, beating the closest competitors by six seconds. Baumeister (July 25, 1934 – March 14, 2011) was an American psychologist and professor at Vanderbilt University, known for his research on intellectual disabilities and his advocacy for such research. Biography Baumeister was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, on July 25, 1934. He received his master's degree in 1959 and his Ph.D. in 1961, both from the Peabody College at Vanderbilt University. Stefan Baumeister (born 18 April 1993) is a German snowboarder, specializing in Alpine snowboarding. Baumeister competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics for Germany. He placed 20th in qualifying for the parallel giant slalom, not advancing. In the parallel slalom, he finished 14th in qualifying. In the first elimination round, he was beaten by Austria's Lukas Mathies, finishing 14th overall.
