Bassiani
Bassiani ( ka, ბასიანი) is a nightclub in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. Founded in 2014, it is located in the building of the city's largest sports venue, the Dinamo Arena, and utilizes a disused swimming pool as the main dancefloor. It is the largest techno club in Georgia and can accommodate around 1,200 people. The club features both local and international performers and has attracted international media attention as one of Tbilisi's modern attractions. History On 12 May 2018 the club was raided by police and the two owners were arrested, which caused protests. Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena ( ''Boris P’aich’adzis erovnuli st’adioni''), formerly known as Boris Paichadze National Stadium, is a stadium in Tbilisi, Georgia, and the home stadium of Dinamo Tbilisi, Georgia national rugby union team and Georgia national football team. With a capacity of 54,139, the stadium is the largest in Georgia. 2018 Georgian Protests
The 2018 Georgian protests were series of mass protests in Tbilisi that turned into anti-government demonstrations starting on 12 May, when police raided the nightclubs Bassiani and Gallery. Protesters gained momentum when thousands gathered in front of the Parliament building, where organizers called for the drug policy reform. The protests illustrated increasing divide in the society around the topics of culture war, especially among the youth. The protests were met by various counter-protests and rallies. On May 13 the fascist organization Georgian National Unity rallied against the ″drug dealers and LGBT propagandists″, as its leader, Giorgi Chelidze has stated. The Battle of Basiani was fought, in the 13th century, between the armies of the Kingdom of Georgia and the Seljuqid Sultanate of Rum in the Basiani valley, 60 km northeast of the city of Erzurum in what is now northeast Republic of Turkey. The battle is variously dated between 1202 and 1205, but 1203 or 1204 has lately been given preference.
