Bassanio is a fictional character in Shakespeare's ''The Merchant of Venice ''Bassanio,'' the best friend of Antonio. He is a spendthrift who wasted all of his money in order to be seen as a respectable man. To regain his fortune, he is determined to marry Portia, a wealthy, intelligent heiress of Belmont. In order to ask for her hand in marriage, Bassanio and his best friend, Antonio enter into an agreement with the usurer Shylock. He is not the main character of the play, but his 73 lines compared to Antonio's 47 and Portia's 117 shows that he still plays an important role. Giorgio Bassani
Giorgio Bassani (4 March 1916 – 13 April 2000) was an Italian novelist, poet, essayist, editor, and international intellectual. Biography Bassani was born in Bologna into a prosperous Jewish family of Ferrara, where he spent his childhood with his mother Dora, father Enrico (a doctor), brother Paolo, and sister Jenny. In 1934 he completed his studies at his secondary school, the liceo classico '' L. Ariosto'' in Ferrara. Music had been his first great passion and he considered a career as a pianist; however literature soon became the focus of his artistic interests. Giuseppe Franco Bassani (October 29, 1929, Milan – September 25, 2008, Pisa) was an Italian physicist. Biography Franco Bassani graduated cum laude in physics from the University of Pavia in November 1952. After two years as a researcher at the Italian National Research Council in Milan (with Professors Piero Caldirola and Fausto Fumi), he moved to the United States, where until 1956 he worked with Frederick Seitz at the University of Illinois. Johanna Bassani (25 April 2002 – 5 May 2020) was an Austrian combined Nordic skier and ski jumper. Career Bassani was born on 25 April 2002. She began her career with the team UVB Hinzenbach, winning the championship in her hometown of Attnang-Puchheim at the age of twelve. She began ski jumping at age 16 in Eisenerz. Bassani made her international debut at the 2018 OPA Nordic Ski Games in Planica, where she finished sixth in the individual competition and third with the Austrian national team. She would also participate in the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup and the Nordic Combined Alpine Cup. She took part in the 2019 OPA Nordic Ski Games and again finished third with the national team. Giovanni Battista Bassani (c. 1650 – 1 October 1716) was an Italian composer, violinist, and organist. Biography Bassani was born in Padua. It is thought that he studied in Venice under Daniele Castrovillari and in Ferrara under Giovanni Legrenzi. Charles Burney and John Hawkins claimed he taught Arcangelo Corelli, but there is no solid evidence for this assertion. He was an organist at the Accademia della Morte in Ferrara from 1667, but had probably left by 1675. Axel Bassani (born 24 July 1999) is an Italian motorcycle racer competing in the Superbike World Championship aboard a Ducati Panigale V4 with Team Motocorsa Racing since 2021. In 2022 he won the trophy for Best Independent rider. He was the FIM Europe Supersport Cup winner in 2016. He previously raced in the Supersport World Championship and in Moto2. Edvin Liverić-Bassani (born 20 November 1970 in Rijeka, Croatia) is a Croatian theatre, television, film actor, dancer, performer and cultural manager. Career Edvin Liverić-Bassani graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb in 1995 and for some time he was a member of Croatian National Theatre in Varaždin.
