The Basque Nationalist Party (, EAJ ; es, Partido Nacionalista Vasco, PNV; french: Parti Nationaliste Basque, PNB; EAJ-PNV), officially Basque National Party in English,) was rejected by party members in November 2011. Andoni Ortuzar Arruabarrena (born 13 July 1962) is a Spanish Basque politician and journalist, and the president of the Basque Nationalist Party. Early life Andoni Ortuzar was born on 13 July 1962 in Sanfuentes, in the mining zone (Biscay) in Spain. Due to the complex political makeup of the Basque Country, the picture of existing political parties, their history and political positions is equally complex. The region is split between two states, Spain and France. On the French side, parties that are of specifically Basque coloration operate mainly at the local and departmental level, in the case of the Northern Basque Country the Département Pyrénées-Atlantiques. The Basque Parliament (Basque: ''Eusko Legebiltzarra'', Spanish: ''Parlamento Vasco'') is the legislative body of the Basque Autonomous Community of Spain and the elected assembly to which the Basque Government is responsible. The European Parliament (EP) is one of the legislative bodies of the European Union and one of its seven institutions.
