Basketligan
Svenska Basketligan, or the Swedish Basketball League (SBL), is the premier league for professional basketball in Sweden. The league was originally established in 1992 as Basketligan and was known as that prior to the season of 2006–07, but when the Swedish company Obol Investment signed an agreement with the Swedish Basketball Federation in early October 2006, the league was renamed Obol Basketball League (OBL). In January 2007 the name was changed to Ligan, meaning simply the League. History On October 6, 2006, the Swedish Basketball Federation signed a 15-year agreement with Swiss company Obol Investment. Part of the deal was that ''Basketligan'' would be renamed ''Obol Basketball League''. Other parts of the deal include that the winning team would receive prize money if the team were to play in the EuroLeague during the following season. 2015–16 Basketligan Season
The 2015–16 Basketligan season was the 23rd season of the Basketligan, the top tier basketball league on Sweden. The season started on 15 October 2015 and ended on 28 April 2016. Södertälje Kings was the defending champion, and successfully reclaimed its title. In the Finals, Södertalje had a clean sweep over Norrköping 4–0 to capture its 11th title. Competition format The participating teams first play a conventional round-robin schedule with every team playing each opponent three times for a total of 30 games. Norrköping Dolphins
The Norrköping Dolphins are a professional basketball club from Norrköping, Sweden. It plays in the Basketligan, the highest league in Sweden and won the league six times. Home games of Norrköping are played at the Stadium Arena. History The club was established as Hageby BK ( sv, Hageby Basketklubb) on May 8, 1963, by Åke Björck. Its name was taken from the Hageby district in Norrköping. The men's team made its debut in the Swedish first tier in 1964–65 but were relegated after only one year. They returned eleven years later, in 1976–77, with the American players Fran O'Hanlon and Kenny Grant on the roster. In 1980, Hageby won its first national championship after defeating Alviks BK in the finals, 3–1. In 1992 the Swedish basketball league was formed and the club changed its name to Norrköping Dolphins. Arena The Stadium Arena is the home arena of the Dolphins since its opening in December 2008. The 2020–21 Swedish Basketball League season was the 28th season of the Swedish Basketball League (SBL), the top tier basketball league on Sweden. Borås Basket is the defending champion. BC Luleå
BasketballClub Luleå is a professional basketball club from Luleå, Sweden that competes in the Basketligan. The team has won the Swedish championship 8 times. History The club was founded in 1976 as ''Plannja Basket''. From 1996 till 2007 Plannja won 7 Swedish titles, the only season they didn't win it was the 2002–03 season. Until the 2012–2013 season LF Basket played its home games in the Pontushallen, which held a capacity of 3,000. The club then moved to the ARCUS Arena during the 2012–2013 season due to reconstructions.
