Basketball At The 2006 Asian Games
Basketball at the 2006 Asian Games was the second early start among the sports in the games. It was played from 23 November to 15 December 2006. In this competition, 20 teams participated in the men's competition and 6 teams played in the women's tournament. The events were held at the Basketball Indoor Hall. The Philippines national basketball team, winners of four gold medals in previous Games, did not participate in the basketball competition due to their suspension by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). The political interference and conflict between the Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP) and Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) was the cause of the suspension. Aspire Zone
Aspire Zone, also known as Doha Sports City, is a sporting complex located in the Baaya district of Al Rayyan, a suburb of Doha, Qatar. Owned by the Aspire Zone Foundation, it was established as an international sports destination in 2003 and in the following year an educational centre for the development of sporting champions (Aspire Academy) was opened. The complex contains several sporting venues, mostly constructed in preparation for the 2006 Asian Games. Aspire Zone is also home to Doha's tallest structure, the Aspire Tower, and is adjacent to Villaggio Mall, the most popular mall in Qatar. Li Nan (, born September 25, 1974 in Harbin, Heilongjiang) is a former professional basketball player from China. Before his retirement in 2009, he played for the Bayi Rockets, a Chinese Basketball Association team based in Ningbo, Zhejiang. As a small forward, he is 1.98 m (6'6") tall and weighs 104 kg (230 pounds). Yasseen Ismail
Yasseen Ismail Musa (born August 12, 1980) is a professional basketball player. He plays for Al-Rayyan of the Qatari Basketball League. He is also a member of the Qatar national basketball team. Musa competed for the Qatar national basketball team at the 2007 and FIBA Asia Championship 2009. Previously he competed for the junior national team at the 1999 FIBA World Championship for Junior Men and 2001 FIBA World Championship for Young Men.
