Baseball At The 2006 Asian Games
Baseball was one of the many sports which was held at the 2006 Asian Games in Al-Rayyan, Qatar beginning on November 29, 2006. Six East Asia, East and Southeast Asian nations participated in the tournament. Chinese Taipei won its first ever baseball gold medal in the Asian Games when they mounted a ninth inning comeback against Japan in the final game of Round-robin tournament, round robin play. All games in the baseball competition were held at the Al-Rayyan Sports Club. Al Rayyan (; also spelled as ''Ar Rayyan'') is the third-largest municipalities of Qatar, municipality in the state of Qatar. Its primary settlement is the Al Rayyan (city), city of the same name, which occupies the entire eastern section and largely surrounds Metropolitan Doha and functions as a suburb. The vast expanse of mostly undeveloped lands in the south-west also falls under the municipality's administration. Etymology Similar to many other names given to Qatari settlements and municipalities, Al Rayyan Municipality was named after a geographic feature present in its namesake, the Al Rayyan (city), city of Al Rayyan. Dai-Kang Yang (, a.k.a. ; born January 17, 1987, Taitung City, Taitung County, Taiwan; previously known as ''Yang Chung-shou'' or ''Chung-Shou Yang'' 陽仲壽) is a Taiwanese professional baseball outfielder for the Lake Country DockHounds of the American Association of Professional Baseball.
