Lin Chih-Sheng
Ngayaw Ake Lin Chih-sheng (; born 1 January 1982; name at birth, birth name: Ngayaw Ake林智盛), also known as Ngayaw Ake in Amis language, is a Taiwanese people, Taiwanese Taiwanese indigenous peoples, indigenous baseball player for the Wei Chuan Dragons of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). He began his career with the La New Bears in 2004. The team changed its name to the Lamigo Monkeys in 2011, and Lin left after the 2015 season to sign with the CTBC Brothers. While with the Bears and later Monkeys, Lin and his teammate Shih Chih-wei were often referred to as the "Sheng-Shih Connection," a reference to the glove puppet film ''Legend of the Sacred Stone''. Asian Baseball Championship
The Asian Baseball Championship is the main championship tournament between national baseball teams in Asia, governed by the Baseball Federation of Asia (BFA). It is held every other year in odd-numbered years and since 1983 it also functions as the qualification games for the Baseball at the Summer Olympics if the event year is exactly one year before the Olympics. ''Legend of the Sacred Stone'' is a 2000 Taiwanese puppetry feature film written and directed by Chris Huang, a spin-off from the glove puppetry ''wuxia'' television series '' Pili''. Glove Puppet
Glove puppetry () is a type of opera using cloth puppets that originated during the 17th century in Quanzhou or Zhangzhou of China's Fujian province, and historically practised in the Min Nan-speaking areas such as Quanzhou, Zhangzhou, the Chaoshan region of Guangdong, and other parts of southern China. It had since established itself contemporarily as a popular art form in Taiwan. The puppet's head uses wood carved into the shape of a hollow human head, but aside from the head, palms, and feet, which are made of wood, the puppet's torso and limbs consist entirely of cloth costumes. At the time of the performance, a gloved hand enters the puppet's costume and makes it perform. In previous years the puppets used in this type of performance strongly resembled "cloth sacks," hence the name, which literally means "cloth bag opera." Shih Chih-wei
Shih Chih-wei (; born 14 August 1977 in Alishan, Chiayi, Alishan, Chiayi County, Taiwan) is a retired Taiwanese baseball player. He played for the amateur Taiwan Cooperative Bank baseball team before being drafted by the La New Bears (later renamed the Lamigo Monkeys) of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) in 2004. The Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL; ) is the top-tier professional baseball league in Taiwan. The league was established in 1989 and played the first season in 1990. Taiwanese indigenous peoples (formerly Taiwanese aborigines), also known as Formosan people, Austronesian Taiwanese, Yuanzhumin or Gaoshan people, are the indigenous peoples of Taiwan, with the nationally recognized subgroups numbering about 569,000 or 2.38% of the island's population. Taiwanese people may be generally considered the people of Taiwan who share a common culture, ancestry and speak Taiwanese Mandarin, Hokkien, Hakka or indigenous Taiwanese languages as a mother tongue. Amis Language
Amis ( or ) is a Formosan language of the Amis (or Ami), an indigenous people living along the east coast of Taiwan. Currently the largest of the Formosan languages, it is spoken from Hualien in the north to Taitung in the south, with another population in the Hengchun Peninisula near the southern end of the island, though the northern varieties are considered to be separate languages. Government services in counties where many Amis people live in Taiwan, such as the Hualien and Taitung railway stations, broadcast in Amis alongside Mandarin. However, few Amis under the age of 20 in 1995 spoke the language.
