Barrie Gosney
Barrie Gosney (1926, Surrey – 24 January 2008) was a British television, film and theatrical actor. In a career spanning five decades, Gosney played roles in ''Up Pompeii'', ''Last of the Summer Wine'', ''Believe Nothing'', ''Time Gentlemen Please'', ''Keeping Up Appearances'' and ''Harry Hill''. He is perhaps best remembered for his performances in Harry Hill's show in which he filled the role of an absurd type of continuity announcer and the character Ken Ford ("the man from 'The Joy of Sex' books..."). He would often send himself up and perform surreal impressions of various celebrities, including Barbra Streisand, Joan Collins & Cliff Richard. He died on 24 January 2008 after complications resulting from a fall. An episode of Al Murray's Happy Hour broadcast on ITV1 on 15 February 2008 was dedicated to him. Surrey
Surrey () is a ceremonial and non-metropolitan county in South East England, bordering Greater London to the south west. San Ferry Ann
''San Ferry Ann'' is a 1965 British sound effect comedy. Wordlessly, with soundtrack and sound effects, it tells the story of a holiday crossing from Dover to Calais. Synopsis A motley crew of British characters ride the San Ferry Ann to the shores of France, where they embark on a weekend of calamity. A campervan family, led by Dad and Mum ( David Lodge and Joan Sims), create chaos from the moment they set their tyres on the shore, resulting in frequent run-ins with the Gendarmerie. In the film, a government minister and his best friend co-sponsor a bill against permissive behaviour in the United Kingdom. They are opposed by a group of hippies, who try to discredit them. ''Our Miss Fred'' is a 1972 British comedy film starring Danny La Rue, set during World War II. The film was also known by its video release titles ''Beyond the Call of Duty'' (Canada) and ''Operation: Fred'' (US). In the 1960s, La Rue was one of the highest paid entertainers in Britain, but this represents his only starring role in a feature film. Plot English Shakespearean actor Fred Wimbush is called up to serve in the British army during World War II. ''Up the Chastity Belt'' (also released as ''Naughty Knights'' in the United States) is a 1971 British comedy film directed by Bob Kellett and starring Frankie Howerd. It was a spin-off from the TV series ''Up Pompeii!'' Plot Eleanor of Aquitaine gives birth to twin sons, Lurkalot first and then Richard. But the nobles, led by Sir Braggart de Bombast, abduct baby Lurkalot and abandon him in a forest to die. He is raised by a family of pigs who belong to Sir Coward de Custard who takes him in as a serf. By way of remittance, Lurkalot aids his master by selling love potions and chastity belts as well as some unusual inventions in the local village, as Sir Coward is not a particularly successful noble. Lurkalot is also visited by strange "voices" in the middle of the night who speak to him and try to tell him who he really is, but get drowned out by events like lightning. ''Futtocks End'' is a British comedy film released in 1970, directed by Bob Kellett and written by Ronnie Barker. Almost entirely without dialogue, the film includes a musical score, sound effects and incoherent mutterings. The story revolves around a weekend gathering at the decaying country home of the eccentric and lewd Sir Giles Futtock (Ronnie Barker) and the series of saucy mishaps between the staff and his guests. Production and reception It was filmed at Grim's Dyke, the former home of W. S. Gilbert, now a hotel. In 1979 the film was infamously shown, with no prior announcement or explanation, by the BBC in the middle of that year's ''Miss World'' broadcast. The programme had in fact been affected by industrial action by sound engineers. Writing in ''The Observer'', Clive James likened it to being "given a lolly to suck".
