Barrie City Council is the governing body for the City of Barrie, in Ontario, Canada. The council consists of the Mayor of Barrie and ten councillors, who represent the ten wards of the city. Barrie
Barrie is a city in Southern Ontario, Canada, about north of Toronto. The city is within Simcoe County and located along the shores of Kempenfelt Bay, the western arm of Lake Simcoe. Although physically in Simcoe County, Barrie is politically independent. The city is part of the extended urban area in southern Ontario known as the Greater Golden Horseshoe. As of the 2021 census, the city's population was 147,829, while the census metropolitan area had a population of 212,667 residents. The area was first settled during the War of 1812 as a supply depot for British forces, and Barrie was named after Sir Robert Barrie. Jennifer Robinson (figure Skater)
Jennifer Robinson (born December 2, 1976) is a Canadian former competitive figure skater. She is a six-time national champion and finished 7th at the 2002 Winter Olympics. Early life Robinson was born December 2, 1976 in Goderich, Ontario. She is the niece of NHL hockey player Gaston Gingras. Career Robinson won six Canadian national titles. Alexander Nuttall (born August 10, 1985) is a Canadian politician who is the current Mayor of Barrie. He served on Barrie City Council from 2006 until 2014, and as the Member of Parliament for the federal electoral district of Barrie—Springwater—Oro-Medonte from 2015 to 2019. Jeff Lehman (politician)
Jeffrey Robert Lehman (born 7 June 1975) is a Canadian politician and economist who served as the 46th mayor of Barrie from 2010 to 2022. He was also the chair of Ontario's Big City Mayor's organization, consisting of the mayors of Ontario's 29 largest cities. Lehman began his career as an academic, teaching urban and housing economics at the UK's prestigious London School of Economics. He had a ten-year career as an economist and built a consulting firm, MKI, in Ottawa and Toronto, before entering politics. Prior to the 2015 election Barrie was a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 2004. Simcoe Centre was a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1988 to 1997. This riding was created in 1987 from parts of Grey—Simcoe, Simcoe South and Wellington—Dufferin—Simcoe ridings. Simcoe Centre consisted of the City of Barrie, the towns of Alliston and Wasaga Beach, the Village of Cookstown and the townships of Essa, Innisfille, Sunnidale, Tosorontio and Vespra.
