Lourdino Barreto
Father Lourdino Barreto (11 February 1938 – 24 January 1997) was an Indian musicologist and Catholic priest. He is considered one of Goa's greatest Western classical musicians. Education He studied at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music and the National Conservatory in Rome and graduated with distinction in Gregorian chant, composition and piano. He later earned a doctorate for his thesis titled: 'Aesthetic Indian Music as a bridge between Christian and Indian Religious Music'. Career Back in Goa, he taught music at the Seminary of Saligao-Pilerne and at the Rachol Seminary of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman, where he trained future priests in the divine chants. Juan Cancio Barreto is a Paraguayan musician. Beginnings Barreto was born in Asunción, Paraguay on March 27, 1950. Son of Carmen Emategui and Rodolfo Barreto. He began to play the guitar at age 7, when a friend of his father, called Dario Duarte, also a musician, gave him a small guitar (requinto). His father showed him the basics and later a neighbour, Eufrasio Riveros, taught him to play. since then he never stopped playing that beautiful instrument. At the age of 11, he met Efrén Echeverría, who became his teacher and inspired him to love and appreciate the folklore of Paraguay and particularly its music. Guillermo Barreto (August 11, 1929 – December 14, 1991) was a Cuban drummer and ''timbalero''. He was a major figure in the Cuban music scene for more than fifty years and one of the first drummers in Cuba to play Afro-Cuban jazz. Federico Barreto (1862 in Tacna - 1929 in Marseille, France) was a Peruvian poet and writer best known for his poetry collection ''El cantor del cautiverio''. Early life Barreto's father was a colonel in the Peruvian Army. Barreto himself was born on February 8, 1868, and lived in Tacna during the Chilean occupation after the War of the Pacific. Working as a writer and journalist alongside his brother, he advocated for the Peruvian identity of the territories occupied in opposition to Chilenization of Tacna, Arica and Tarapacá, Chilenization. Fábio Villela Barreto Borges (June 6, 1957 – November 20, 2019) was a Brazilian filmmaker, actor, screenwriter, and film producer. He was best known for directing ''O Quatrilho'' (which was the first Brazilian film nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in more than 30 years) and '' Lula, o filho do Brasil'', a biography based on President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's early life, which had been the most expensive film in the history of Brazilian cinema upon its release.
