Barooga Football Club
The Barooga Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Hawks'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the town of Barooga located in the Riverina district of New South Wales. The club was formed in 1894 and initially played in the Murray Border Football Association in 1894. When the club won the Federal District Football Association premiership against Cobram Football Club in 1897, they were known as "The Boomerangs" and wore a red and white uniform. When Barooga FC re-formed in 1907 they wore an all-blue uniform in the Goulburn Valley Football Association in 1907 and 1908. In 1911, the Boomanoomana Rovers Junior Football Club was established and played in the official Goulburn Valley Junior Football Association (GVJFA) and played their matches in Barooga and in the maroon and gold colours. Goulburn Valley Football Association
The Goulburn Valley Football Association (GVFA) is an Australian rules football competition that was first established in 1888 in the Goulburn Valley of Victoria, Australia, with the foundation clubs being Cobram, Muckatah, Nathalia, Numurkah, Wunghnu and Yarroweyah. This football competition was separate to the Goulburn Valley District Football Association that was formed in 1893, that is still active today and now called the Goulburn Valley Football League. Murray Football League
The Murray Football Netball League is an Australian rules football and netball league affiliated with the Victorian Country Football League. The league covers a large area of northern Victoria and southern New South Wales from Shepparton in the south to Deniliquin in the north. It covers much the same area as the Picola & District Football League but the teams tend to be the larger communities and towns. Sam Snell
Sam Snell (8 May 1911 – 26 June 2002) was an Australian rules footballer who played with St Kilda in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Snell, who was from Barooga in New South Wales, played much of his football at St Kilda as a centre half-back. He received eight Brownlow Medal votes in 1939. After appearing in the opening round of the 1940 VFL season, Snell didn't play at all for the next four years. Chris O'Dwyer (born 27 October 1971) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League (AFL). O'Dwyer was originally from Barooga in the New South Wales Riverina, but played at Assumption College before being recruited by Sydney. Gerard Vincent Toohey (born 22 October 1966) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Toohey, a recruit from Barooga, made his only senior VFL appearance for Geelong in the 1985 VFL season.
