Bardentreffen
The Bardentreffen (German for bards' meeting) is an annual open-air music festival in Nuremberg, Germany. The first Bardentreffen took place on the 400th anniversary of the death of meistersinger Hans Sachs in 1976. Setup The venues are spread over the whole historical city and the event takes place on the first weekend of the school summer holidays in Bavaria. Starting with a more political approach including singer songwriter groups of the political left, the Bardentreffen grew into a more multicultural approach and has established itself as an important venue for professional and amateur bands of world music. There are no entry tickets, the city of Nuremberg and various sponsors take care of band fees and organization. Charly Fischer was head of the organization of the Bardentreffen for nearly 30 years and went into retreat 2014. Besides "official" sponsored gigs, a part of the city is open for amateurs. Astrid North (Astrid Karina North Radmann; 24 August 1973, West Berlin – 25 June 2019, Berlin) was a German soul singer and songwriter. She was the singer of the German band , with whom she released five Albums. As guest singer of the band she published three albums. Career North had her first experiences as a singer with her student band Colorful Dimension in Berlin. In March 1992 she met B. LaBrassBanda is a Bavarian brass band originating from Übersee, near Chiemsee, Bavaria, Germany. The name of the band is a portmanteau of the Italian words "la banda" and the English term "brass band", both meaning the same. History of the band The band was founded 2007 by Stefan Dettl, Andreas Hofmeir, Manuel Winbeck, Oliver Wrage, and Manuel da Coll. The five musicians got to know each other during their music studies. Stefan Dettl was inspired by the Youngblood Brass Band which he met at his New York City trip. Dettl was inspired by their combination of Brass music and Hip-Hop and R&B vibes. Donnie Munro (Scottish Gaelic: Donaidh Rothach /dɔnɪ rɔhəx/) (born 2 August 1953) is a Scottish musician, and former lead singer of the band Runrig. A native speaker of Scots Gaelic, much of his work is in that language. Early life Munro was born in Uig, Isle of Skye in the Inner Hebrides. He attended Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen and earned a postgraduate degree in teaching at Moray House in Edinburgh. Music career He first saw Runrig play in 1973 and was approached one year later to become a member of the band. As lead singer of Runrig, Munro became established as a Gaelic music performer of the 1980s and 1990s. Munro left Runrig in 1997 to pursue a career in politics.
