''Barbatia'' is a genus of "bearded" ark clams, marine (ocean), marine bivalve mollusks in the family (biology), family Arcidae, the ark clams. This genus is known in the fossil record from the Jurassic period to the Quaternary period (age range: 167.7 to 0.0 million years ago). These fossils have been found all over the world. The Jurassic ( ) is a Geological period, geologic period and System (stratigraphy), stratigraphic system that spanned from the end of the Triassic Period million years ago (Mya) to the beginning of the Cretaceous Period, approximately Mya.
