Barad (band)
Barad ( Persian: باراد) were an Iranian rock band from Tehran. The main language for their lyrics is Persian, although English has appeared in their lyrics as well. History In 2002, bass player Kasra Saboktakin, singer and guitar player Pouya Mahmoodi, drummer Arash Moghadam and guitar player Aydin Naeeni began to jam together at Naeeni's house. In early 2003 the record label ''Hermes Records'' was introduced to Kasra through a friend, and the label showed interest in the band's Ideas. After they heard their first couple of demos for "Leyva“ and " Dar Har Rag E Man", they signed the band. Later In 2003, their debut album, "Barad“, was released, which had very good reviews and successful sales in Iran and was selected as one of the top 10 albums of the year. Tehran
Tehran (; fa, تهران ) is the largest city in Tehran Province and the capital of Iran. With a population of around 9 million in the city and around 16 million in the larger metropolitan area of Greater Tehran, Tehran is the most populous city in Iran and Western Asia, and has the second-largest metropolitan area in the Middle East, after Cairo. Folk Rock
Folk rock is a hybrid music genre that combines the elements of folk and rock music, which arose in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom in the mid-1960s. In the U.S., folk rock emerged from the folk music revival. Persian Language
Persian (), also known by its endonym Farsi (, ', ), is a Western Iranian language belonging to the Iranian branch of the Indo-Iranian subdivision of the Indo-European languages. 2003 Bam Earthquake
The 2003 Bam earthquake struck the Kerman province of southeastern Iran at 01:56 UTC (5:26 am Iran Standard Time) on December 26. The shock had a moment magnitude of 6.6 and a maximum Mercalli intensity of IX (''Violent''). The earthquake was particularly destructive in Bam, with the death toll amounting to at least 34,000 people and injuring up to 200,000. The effects of the earthquake were exacerbated by the use of mud brick as the standard construction medium; many of the area's structures did not comply with earthquake regulations set in 1989. Following the earthquake the U.S. offered direct humanitarian assistance to Iran and in return the state promised to comply with an agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency which supports greater monitoring of its nuclear interests.
