Playing under the banner of St Modans FPs until the name was changed in 1996 to Bannockburn Rugby Club. The club play their home matches at the Bluebellwood Clubhouse in Bannockburn with one senior XV side, as well as a mini/midi setup. The club played their first match in 1979 against HMS Neptune and entered the Midland league in 1980 until they joined the Glasgow set up in 1982 where they stayed until 1994 before rejoining the Midlands set up. Bannockburn (Scottish Gaelic ''Allt a' Bhonnaich'') is an area immediately south of the centre of Stirling in Scotland. It is part of the City of Stirling. It is named after the Bannock Burn, a stream running through the town before flowing into the River Forth. History Land in the vicinity of Bannockburn town, probably between the Pelstream and Bannock burns (hence Bannockburn), was the site of the Battle of Bannockburn fought in 1314—one of the pivotal battles of the 13th/14th century Wars of Independence between the kingdoms of Scotland and England. St Modan's High School
St Modan's Roman Catholic High School is an S1-S6 Catholic high school in Stirling, Scotland. History In September 1933, St Modan's High School was officially opened by Archbishop McDonald of St Andrew's and Edinburgh. It was located in Barnsdale Road, St Ninians, Stirling. It was one of the first catholic schools to be built in Scotland. When it first opened, it incorporated 410 pupils and grew to its maximum potential of 1200 pupils when the school leaving age was raised to 16 in 1972. In 2008 St. Modan's High School moved to a new site as part of Stirling Councils £10 million Public Private Partnership regeneration of schools. The new site was originally planned for a field adjacent to Bannockburn High School however due to Historic Scotland objections the new site was announced as being in Springkerse Retail Park in Stirling directly opposite the Holiday Inn Hotel.
