Cinema Of Bangladesh
The Bangladeshi Cinema, better known as Dhallywood ( bn, ঢালিউড), is the Bengali-language film industry based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It has often been a significant film industry since the early 1970s. The dominant style of Bangladeshi cinema is melodramatic cinema, which developed from 1947 to 1990 and characterizes most films to this day. Cinema was introduced in Bangladesh in 1898 by the Bradford Bioscope Company, credited to have arranged the first film release in Bangladesh. Between 1913 and 1914, the first production company, Picture House, was opened. A 1928 short silent film titled ''Sukumari'' () was the first Bengali-produced film in the region. The first full-length film, ''The Last Kiss (1931 film), The Last Kiss'', was released in 1931. 3rd Bangladesh National Film Awards
The 3rd Bangladesh National Film Awards ( bn, জাতীয় চলচ্চিত্র পুরস্কার) were given by the Government of Bangladesh for releases in 1977. It was the third ceremony of National Film Awards. Every year, a national panel appointed by the government selects the winning entry. This year awards were given by Ziaur Rahman, the President of Bangladesh, at the Vice President's House in Dhaka on January 9, 1979. Bangladesh Film Development Corporation or BFDC, is a government owned and operated corporation in Tejgaon, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Nuzhat Yeasmin is the managing director of the corporation. History The organization was founded in 1959 as the East Pakistan Film Development Corporation which was changed to Bangladesh Film Development Corporation after Bangladesh achieved independence in 1971. It signed an agreement with National Film Development Corporation of India in 2016 to jointly produce a documentary on Bangladesh Liberation war. ''Surja Dighal Bari'' (''The Ominous House'') is a 1979 Bangladeshi feature film directed and produced by Sheikh Niamat Ali and Masihuddin Shaker. The screenplay was based on Abu Ishaque's 1955 novel of the same title. It was the first film made from the Government of Bangladesh grant. The film was first released in a theater in Natore. Dolly Anwar
Dolly Anwar (; 1 July 1948 – 3 July 1991) was a Bangladeshi stage, television and film actress and writer and editor of ''Saatdin'' magazine. She was awarded Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in the film ''Surjo Dighol Bari'' (1979). Early life Anwar was the daughter of Nilima Ibrahim, a political and feminist activist, and Muhammad Ibrahim, a physician. She was an undergraduate student in literature at Jagannath College. Career Anwar began her career on stage at the age of 13. At 16, she acted in ''Aktala Dotala'' by Munier Choudhury and ''Roj Roj'' the first play and the first drama serial respectively on Bangladesh Television.
