Bandundu, Democratic Republic Of The Congo
Bandundu, formerly known as Banningville or Banningstad, is the capital city of Kwilu Province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Location Bandundu is located on the east bank of the Kwango River, just north of the juncture of the Kwango and the Kwilu River, Kwilu, and south from the mouth of the Kwango on the Kasai River. It is around from Kinshasa by air, or about by road. In 2009, Bandundu had an estimated population of 133,080. Economy Bandundu was once a significant river port, as it is the largest town on the river between Kinshasa and Kikwit. However, traffic on the Kasai and Kwango Rivers dropped dramatically as a result of the Second Congo War, and has yet to recover. Bandundu does have intermittent passenger and freight service to Kinshasa, Mushie and Kikwit. Since 2008, there is a car/truck ferry service running several times per day across the Kwango. Flag Of The Democratic Republic Of The Congo
The national flag of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (french: drapeau de la république démocratique du Congo) is a sky blue flag, adorned with a yellow star in the upper left canton and cut diagonally by a red stripe with a yellow fimbriation. It was adopted on 20 February 2006. A new constitution, ratified in December 2005 and which came into effect in February 2006, promoted a return to a flag similar to that flown between 1963 and 1971, with a change from a royal blue to sky blue background. Blue represents peace. Red stands for "the blood of the country's martyrs", yellow the country's wealth; and the star symbol the future for the country. The Second Congo War,, group=lower-alpha also known as the Great War of Africa or the Great African War and sometimes referred to as the African World War, began in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in August 1998, little more than a year after the First Congo War, and involved some of the same issues. The war officially ended in July 2003, when the Transitional Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo took power. Although a peace agreement was signed in 2002, violence has continued in many regions of the country, especially in the east. Hostilities have continued since the ongoing Lord's Resistance Army insurgency, and the Kivu and Ituri conflicts. The University of Bandundu (UB) is a public university in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, located in the province of Bandundu, city of Bandundu. At its creation, it was an extension of the University of Kinshasa, then called ''University Centre of Bandundu (C.U.B.)''. As of 2012 it had 800 students in six faculties. Instruction is in French. Mushie
Mushie is a town in Mai-Ndombe Province, Mai-Ndombe province, Democratic Republic of the Congo and is the administrative center of Mushie Territories of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, territory. It lies at an elevation of 1118 ft (340 m), on the northern bank of the Kasai River at its confluence with the Fimi River. Mushie's population is roughly 33,000. Kikwit
Kikwit is the largest city of Kwilu Province, lying on the Kwilu River in the southwestern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Kikwit is also known in the region under the nickname "The Mother". The population is approximately 458,000 (2017). An important commercial centre, it is home to a stadium and is known for its traditional dances, in particular the Bapende dancers whose geographic origin centers on the village of Gungu. Bapende dancers often wear traditional costumes comprising colorful masks and attire made from raffia.
