Jammu And Kashmir Cricket Team
The Jammu and Kashmir cricket team is a cricket team based in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, run by JKCA. It is in the Elite Group C of the Ranji Trophy. Its main home ground is the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar, and it also plays at Gandhi Memorial Science College Ground in Jammu. History Jammu and Kashmir first took part in the Ranji Trophy in 1959-60. Until recent seasons it had always been one of the weaker teams. Its first victory did not come until the 1982-83 season, when it defeated Services by four wickets. As of mid-November 2020 it had played 301 matches in the competition and won only 32 times, against 199 losses. In recent seasons Jammu and Kashmir has been more successful. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. Yusuf Pathan
Yusuf Pathan (born 17 November 1982) is an Indian former cricketer. Pathan made his debut in first-class cricket in 2001/02. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm off-break bowler. His younger brother, Irfan Pathan was also an Indian cricketer. Pathan retired from all forms of cricket in February 2021. Personal life Yusuf Pathan was born in Baroda, Gujarat, to a Gujarati Pathan family. He is the elder brother of Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan. He along with his brother Irfan has done philanthropic work during Covid-19 pandemic by distributing masks. Shakti Singh (cricketer)
Shakti Singh (born 19 May 1968) is an Indian first-class cricketer turned playback singer. He played cricket for Himachal Pradesh and Delhi. After retirement, he became a match referee and Bollywood playback singer. Life and career Singh played as a bowling all-rounder who batted right-handed and bowled right-arm medium-fast. In a playing career that spanned 16 seasons, he appeared in 58 first-class and 28 List A matches playing mainly for Himachal Pradesh and Delhi. In 1991, he was sent to Australia to train under Dennis Lillee. He is best known for his knock of 128 for Himachal Pradesh against Haryana in the 1990–91 Ranji Trophy. In the innings, he hit 14 sixes, an Indian first-class record, and also broke the record of fastest fifty in Ranji Trophy, reaching the mark in just 18 balls. The Ranji Trophy (also known as Mastercard Ranji Trophy for sponsorship reasons) is a domestic first-class cricket championship played in India between multiple teams representing regional and state cricket associations.
