Ballachulish Bridge
The Ballachulish Bridge is a bridge in the West Highlands of Scotland. It crosses the narrows (Caolas mhic Phadruig - Patrick's Narrows) between Loch Leven and Loch Linnhe, linking the villages of South Ballachulish (Argyll) and North Ballachulish (Inverness-shire). It carries the A82 road, the main route between Glasgow and Inverness. The bridge was built by the Cleveland Bridge & Engineering Company Cleveland Bridge & Engineering Company was a UK bridge works and structural steel contractor based in Darlington. The village of Ballachulish ( or , from Scottish Gaelic ) in Lochaber, Highland, Scotland, is centred on former slate quarries. The name Ballachulish (Ballecheles, 1522 – Straits town) was more correctly applied to the area now called North Ballachulish, to the north of Loch Leven, but was usurped for the quarry villages at East Laroch and West Laroch, either side of the River Laroch, which were actually within Glencoe and South Ballachulish respectively. Overview The principal industry is now tourism. The name Ballachulish (from Scottish Gaelic, ''Baile a' Chaolais'') means "the Village by the Narrows". The narrows in question is Caolas Mhic Phàdraig – Peter or Patrick's son's narrows, at the mouth of Loch Leven. The A82 is a major road in Scotland that runs from Glasgow to Inverness via Fort William, Highland, Fort William. Loch Leven (Scottish Gaelic: ''Loch Liobhann'') is a sea loch located on the west coast of Scotland. It is spelled ''Loch Lyon'' in Timothy Pont's map of the area and is pronounced Li' un. Loch Linnhe
Loch Linnhe () is a sea loch on the west coast of Scotland. The part upstream of Corran is known in Gaelic as (the black pool, originally known as Loch Abar), and downstream as (the salty pool). The name ''Linnhe'' is derived from the Gaelic word , meaning "pool". Loch Linnhe follows the line of the Great Glen Fault, and is the only sea loch along the fault. About long, it opens onto the Firth of Lorne at its southwestern end. The part of the loch upstream of Corran is long and an average of about wide.
