Moho (genus)
__NOTOC__ ''Moho'' is a genus of extinct birds in the Hawaiian bird family, Mohoidae, that were endemic to the Hawaiian Islands. Members of the genus are known as ''ōō'' in the Hawaiian language. Their plumage was generally striking glossy black; some species had yellowish axillary tufts and other black outer feathers. Most of these species became extinct by habitat loss, the introduction of mammalian predators (like rats, pigs, and mongooses), and by extensive hunting (their plumage was used for the creation of precious ''aahu alii'' (robes) and ''ahu ula'' (capes) for '' alii'' (Hawaiian nobility). The Kauai ōō was the last species of this genus to become extinct, probably a victim of avian malaria. Hawaiian Rail
The Hawaiian rail (''Zapornia sandwichensis''), Hawaiian spotted rail, or Hawaiian crake is an extinct species of diminutive rail that lived on Big Island of Hawaii. A dark form and a lighter, spotted one are known (see below). Taxonomy Considerable confusion has been created by the existence of two distinct forms. While it cannot be completely excluded that early specimens were collected on another island, only Oahu and Kauai seem possible given the history of the specimens' collection, and only on the latter island is a similar-sized species now known to have once existed. However, the bones from Kauai are in the upper size range of those found of ''sandwichensis'', while the specimens of the lighter form are all of smaller birds. This bird was only the size of a Laysan crake; it may have been the bird named ''iao'' or ''iao'', which would place its extinction at a relatively recent date. Oriole Warbler
The oriole warbler (''Hypergerus atriceps'') is a large warbler in the family Cisticolidae, and the only member of the genus ''Hypergerus''. This bird is a resident breeder in west Africa from southern Senegal to Cameroon. This skulking passerine is typically found in dense thickets usually near water. The oriole warbler builds a large untidy nest suspended from palm leaves. These 20-cm long warblers have a long tail, strong legs and a long black bill. At a weight of around the oriole warbler may be the largest of the species-rich Cisticolidae family. Adults are light olive above, yellow below and have a black hood. The species' name refers to their resemblance to the unrelated but similarly black and yellow orioles. The sexes are similar, but juveniles are duller.
