Baldivis, Western Australia
Baldivis is a semi-rural residential suburb south of Perth, and southeast of the regional centre of Rockingham. It is located within the City of Rockingham local government area. Housing estates in the suburb include Tuart Ridge, Settlers Hills, Settlers Townside, The Rivergums, Baldivis Central, Baldivis North, Baldivis Gardens, The Chimes, Brightwood, Evermore Heights, The Ridge, The Chase, Highbury Park, Heritage Park, The Dales, Avalon, Woodleigh Grove, Sherwood and Parkland Heights. History The name of Baldivis was thought up by settlers in the area who were attracted to the region by the 1920s Group Settlement Scheme. The name derives from three ships which travelled to Western Australia in 1922, all within six weeks of each other, bringing settlers under the scheme. Electoral District Of Baldivis
Baldivis is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia. It is located in Perth's southern suburbs, and named after the suburb of Baldivis. Baldivis was created by the Western Australian Electoral Commission in a 2015 redistribution, and elected its first member at the 2017 state election. It incorporated areas that previously fell into the seats of Kwinana and Warnbro. Baldivis was estimated to have a notional 6.4-point majority for the Labor Party (based on the results of the 2013 election), and was considered a safe seat for that party. Baldivis Tramway
The Baldivis Tramway, also referred to as the Peel Estate Tramway or Peel Tramline, was a short-lived tramway, originally planned to be operating from Jandakot railway station to Karnup, in Western Australia. The line was constructed to support the post-World War I Group Settlement Scheme at the Peel Estate in Baldivis but was never fully completed, only reaching as far as Wellard. The line existed from 1920 to 1925 and was designed to transport supplies to the settlement scheme and to carry harvested timber on the return journey. Name Historical newspaper sources quote no definite name for the Baldivis Tramway. The suburb of Baldivis was only named in 1922; the name was coined by local settlers, combining parts of the names of the three ships that brought them to Western Australia, post-dating the original line. Ridge View Secondary College is an Independent Public secondary school in Baldivis, a suburb south of Perth, Western Australia. Overview The $40.6 million first stage of construction began at the end of 2017. The first stage was designed to cater for 725 students. A new public secondary school was needed as Baldivis had a high rate of population growth and Baldivis Secondary College was the only other public secondary school in the area. Safety Bay Road
Safety Bay Road is an east-west metropolitan road located in the City of Rockingham, about south of Perth, Western Australia. The road starts in Rockingham's coastal suburbs and heads south from Peron, Western Australia, Peron past Lake Richmond. The road then turns left at the coast with a roundabout with Arcadia Drive which is a coastal road in Shoalwater, Western Australia, Shoalwater. Safety Bay Road takes a left turn and extends past Ennis Avenue and Warnbro railway station to the newer suburban estates at Baldivis, Western Australia, Baldivis, before ending just past the Kwinana Freeway. Bunbury, Western Australia
Bunbury is a coastal city in the Australian state of Western Australia, approximately south of the state capital, Perth. Kwinana Freeway
The Kwinana Freeway is a freeway in and beyond the southern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia, linking central Perth with Mandurah to the south. It is the central section of State Route 2, which continues north as Mitchell Freeway to Clarkson, and south as Forrest Highway towards Bunbury. A section between Canning and Leach highways is also part of National Route 1. Along its route are interchanges with several major roads, including Roe Highway and Mandjoogoordap Drive. The northern terminus of the Kwinana Freeway is at the Narrows Bridge, which crosses the Swan River, and the southern terminus is at Pinjarra Road, east of Mandurah. Warnbro railway station is a commuter railway station in Warnbro, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. It is on the Mandurah line, which is part of the Transperth commuter rail network, and is located immediately south-east of the interchange of Safety Bay Road and Ennis Avenue. It has two side platforms, linked by a pedestrian overpass accessed by stairs, a lift, and escalators. Services run every 10 minutes during peak, and every 15 minutes between peak.
