Battle Of Badr
The Battle of Badr ( ar, غَزْوَةُ بَدِرْ ), also referred to as The Day of the Criterion (, ) in the Qur'an and by Muslims, was fought on 13 March 624 CE (17 Ramadan, 2 AH), near the present-day city of Badr, Al Madinah Province in Saudi Arabia. Muhammad, commanding an army of his Sahaba, defeated an army of the Quraysh led by Amr ibn Hishām, better known as Abu Jahl. The battle marked the beginning of the six-year war between Muhammad and his tribe. Prior to the battle, the Muslims and the Meccans had fought several smaller skirmishes in late 623 and early 624. Muhammad took keen interest in capturing Meccan caravans after his migration to Medina, seeing it as repayment for his people, the Muhajirun. A few days before the battle, when he learnt of a Makkan caravan returning from the Levant led by Abu Sufyan ibn Harb, Muhammad gathered a small expeditionary force to capture it. The Badr-B ( ur, ; also known as Badr-II, meaning ''Full Moon-2'') is the second spacecraft and the first earth observation satellite launched into Earth orbit on 10 December 2001 at 09:15 by the SUPARCO — Pakistan's national space agency. ''Badr-B'' is a microsatellite, with a mass of ~70 kg, and contained the computerized system to conduct the studies on the gravity gradient. ''Badr-B'' is a research satellite to explore the upper atmosphere and the near space, and carried a large array of instruments for geophysical research. The ''Badr-B'' payload was equipped with several CCD cameras, compact dosimeter, a telemetry system, charge detector and a temperature control unit. The ''Badr-A'' was Pakistan's first indigenously developed and manufactured digital communications and an experimental artificial satellite which was launched into low Earth orbit by Pakistan on 16 July 1990, through a Chinese carrier rocket. The Badr Organization ( ar, منظمة بدر ''Munaẓẓama Badr''), previously known as the Badr Brigades or Badr Corps, is an Iraqi Shia Islamist political party and military organization headed by Hadi Al-Amiri. The Badr Brigade was the Iran-officered military wing of the Iran-based Shia Islamic party, Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI), formed in 1982. The Badr Brigade was created by Iranian intelligence and Shia cleric Mohammad Baqir al-Hakim with the aim of fighting Saddam Hussein's regime during the Iran–Iraq War. Since the 2003 US-led invasion of Iraq most of Badr's fighters have entered the new Iraqi army and police force. Badr is a series of satellites operated by Pakistan. The first satellite Badr-1, was launched in July 1990. It was the first SUPARCO engineered object to orbit the Earth. That launch took place on 16 July 1990 as part of the International Frequency Registration Bureau. The Urdu language word "Badr", literally means "Full Moon", and its launch vehicle was Chinese Long March 2 space rocket Long March 2E. The Badr series consisted of two satellites. Both were developed by SUPARCO. The Badr-A satellite successfully completed its designated life. Badr ( ar, بدر ) is a city located north east in the Cairo Governorate, Egypt. Badr is planned as an industrial city and includes 129 factories. Ḥalā-'l Badr (or Hala-'l Bedr / Hallat al Badr, in ar, حلا البدر) is a volcano in northwestern Saudi Arabia at 27.25° N, 37.235° E. The volcano is of the cinder cone (or scoria-cone) type, and is on the northeast corner of the Thadra table mountain in the al-Jaww (الجاوّ) basin, an erosional divide between Harrat ar-Rahah (حرة الراحة ''ḥarratu ’r-raḥah'') and Harrat al-'Uwayrid (حرة العويد ''ḥarratu ’r-‘ūwayrid''). Al-Shaykh Badr ( ar, الشيخ بدر, also spelled ''Sheikh Bader'') is a city in Syria, administratively belonging to Tartus Governorate. Al-Shaykh Badr has an altitude of 536 meters. Badr-4 (a.k.a. Arabsat 4B) is an EADS Astrium-built communications satellite operated by Arabsat, launched 8 November 2006 on a Proton-M/Briz-M rocket. It provides fixed satellite communications services in C- and Ku-bands from the 26° East orbital position. The satellite is based on the Eurostar E2000+ platform. Its payload was supplied by Alcatel Alenia Space. The Badr-4-payload consists of 28 active channels in Ku band (16 in BSS and 12 in FSS). Payload power is about 6 kW. The satellite has two 2.5 m deployable antennas and one 1.35 m top floor antenna. Due to success of the satellite, Arabsat let another agreement for an upgraded version of Badr-4 communication satellite: in June 2006, Arabsat gave the contract to EADS Astrium for construction of Badr-6, a high-power broadcast satellite to cover the Middle East and Africa.
