Badminton At The 2018 Asian Games – Men's Team
The badminton men's team tournament at the 2018 Asian Games took place from 19 to 22 August at the Istora Gelora Bung Karno in Jakarta. The draw for the team event was held on 16 August. South Korea team was the gold medalist in the last edition of the Asian Games in Incheon 2014, and this time China's team led the seeding. China won the gold medal after defeating second-seed and host Indonesia 3–1 in the final. Japan and Chinese Taipei shared the bronze medal after losing in the semi-finals. Istora Gelora Bung Karno
Gelora Bung Karno Sports Palace ( id, Istana Olahraga Gelora Bung Karno, abbreviated as ''Istora''), the formerly name ''Istora Senayan'' is an indoor sporting arena located in Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex, Jakarta, Indonesia. The capacity of the arena after 2018 reopening is 7,166. This arena is usually used for badminton tournaments. Its maiden event was the 1961 Thomas Cup. It was also used during the 1962 Asian Games and was renovated to host the 2018 edition. Its first post-renovation event was the 2018 Indonesia Masters. During the latter Games, it hosted the badminton and later stages of basketball events. The arena originally was planned to stage the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup and becoming the only Indonesian venue in the three-country joint bid but was moved to a newly-built arena inside the complex. Anthony Sinisuka Ginting
Anthony Sinisuka Ginting (; born October 20, 1996) is an Indonesian badminton player. He first rose to prominence when he won the bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Games. At the 2020 Olympics, he won bronze in the men's singles event. He became the first Youth Olympic badminton medalist to win a medal at the Olympics, having also won bronze in 2014. Ginting was part of Indonesia winning team at the 2020 Thomas Cup. Early life The badminton player who was born in Cimahi, of Karo descent, was introduced to badminton by his father when he was still in kindergarten. He is the fourth of five children. Wang Chi-lin (; born 18 January 1995) is a Taiwanese badminton player who specializes in doubles. He is the 2020 Olympics men's doubles champion. Career In 2021, at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, he and his partner Lee Yang defeated the 2018 World Champions' Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen in the men's doubles final. They became the first unseeded pair to win a gold medal in the Olympics' men's doubles badminton. This was Chinese Taipei's first Olympic medal in badminton. Lee Yang (; born 12 August 1995) is a Taiwanese badminton player and 2020 Olympics men's doubles champion. Career Lee played in the men's doubles with Lee Jhe-huei. They were champions in 2016 at the Vietnam Open Grand Prix. Chou Tien-chen (Chinese: 周天成; born 8 January 1990) is a Taiwanese badminton player. He became the first local shuttler in 17 years to win the men's singles title of the Chinese Taipei Open in 2016 since Indonesian-born Fung Permadi won it in 1999. Chen Hung-ling
Chen Hung-ling (; born 10 February 1986) is a Taiwanese badminton player. Chen Hung-ling is a doubles specialist. His best results have come with Cheng Wen-hsing in mixed doubles, but he routinely competes in men's doubles with Lin Yu-lang. In 2011 Chen and Cheng won the tournament at the Japan Super Series. They have reached the semi-finals of five other super series tournaments. He is known as the only player in the elite tournament that wears glasses while playing on the court.
