Badminton was contested at the 1998 Asian Games in Thammasat Gymnasium 2, Bangkok, Thailand from December 8 to December 17. Singles, doubles, and team events were contested for both men and women. Thammasat Stadium
Thammasat Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in the city of Rangsit, Pathum Thani, Thailand. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 25,000. It is on Thammasat University's Rangsit campus. It is located close to Bangkok. History It was built for the 1998 Asian Games by construction firm Christiani and Nielsen, the same company that constructed the Democracy Monument in Bangkok. Its appearance is that of a scaled down version of Rajamangala Stadium. The tribunes form a continuous ring which are quite low behind each goal but rise up on each side. Unlike Rajamangala though, Thammasat has a roof covering both side tribunes. Most striking about this stadium are the floodlights. Thai architects usually favour concrete pylons but these are the steel variety. As viewed from the exterior of the stadium the base of each pylon seems to grip the outside of the stadium and they dramatically lean over the tribunes so as to better illuminate the playing area. Yu Jinhao
Yu Jinhao (, born 12 November 1975 in Guangzhou) is a former Chinese badminton player. Yu joined the national team in 1997. He was part of the Chinese men's team that won the silver medal at the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand, and also won the bronze medal in the men's doubles event partnered with Liu Yong. He was ranked world No. 5 in the men's doubles in January 1999. Teamed with Chen Qiqiu, they competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. Ha Tae-kwon
Ha Tae-kwon (; born 30 April 1975) is a badminton player from South Korea. Born in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, Ha started his career in badminton with the recommendation of Kim Dong-moon in elementary school. He made his international debut in 1992, and won his first Grand Prix title at the 1995 Canada Open. Ha three times competed in Olympic Games in 1996, 2000 and 2004, won a bronze medal in 2000 and a gold medal in 2004. Zhang Wei (, born 2 December 1977) is a former Chinese badminton player. Zhang was selected to join the national team in 1997. He played in the men's doubles event partnered with Zhang Jun. He participated in four consecutive Sudirman Cup, winning 3 gold medals in 1999, 2001, 2005, and a silver medal in 2003. Zhang Jun (; born November 26, 1977 in Suzhou, Jiangsu) is a former male badminton player from the People's Republic of China. He is now a coach with the Chinese national team following his retirement from international play. Career As a doubles specialist, the solidly built Zhang Jun won several international men's doubles titles with compatriot Zhang Wei including the Swiss (1998), China (2001), and Thailand (2005) Opens.
