Badmingtons
Badmingtons (in Macedonian: Бадмингтонс) were a prominent Macedonian punk rock band. Biography Badmingtons were formed in 1983 in Skopje, then SR Macedonia (now the Republic of Macedonia) by Vladimir Petrovski - Karter (guitar and vocals), Dean Škartov - Deko ( keyboards) and Boris Georgiev - But ( drums). Previously, Karter had played in one of the line-ups of Fol Jazik (the first punk band in Skopje, formed 1978) and later in Saraceni, another legendary punk group, which also featured the now-internationally acclaimed musician Goran Trajkoski. Boris Georgiev was a former drummer in Jadro, which included members from several countries, as well as in the bands Pop and Dizajn. He visited London in the 1970s where he acquainted himself with the punk movement. Since purchasing his Yamaha CS-15 electronic keyboard in the late 1970s, Deko initially played in the group Kocka led, but later, in 1983 he joined Karter and But to form Badmingtons. It is now out of print and very hard to find, although tracks 1, 4 and 5 can be streamed free of charge from the Badmingtons MySpace page. Tracks 1, 4 and 5 were recorded in 1985 after Badmingtons won a battle of the bands contest. The rest of the tracks are from the demo tape Badmingtons sent to Radio-Televizija Skopje to enter the contest. Track 1 became the most popular Badmingtons track. Aleksandar Makedonski (Macedonian language: Александар Македонски, meaning in English: Alexander of Macedonia) was a North Macedonia, Macedonian and former Yugoslavia, former Yugoslav rock band. Biography Aleksandar Makedonski was formed in 1986 in Skopje, then in socialist Yugoslavia as an offshoot of the prominent punk rock group Badmingtons, and it included the frontman Vladimir Petrovski - Karter (guitar, Singing, vocals), Dejan Škartov-Deko (keyboard instrument, keyboards), Zoran Janković - Bajo (bass guitar), Vladimir Dimovski (Drum kit, drums) and the female singer Melita Stefanovska (backing vocalist, backing vocals). Mizar (band)
Mizar ( mk, Мизар ) is a Macedonian rock band from Skopje. They achieved a status of a cult band, especially in Macedonia and across the former Yugoslavian countries. The group is notable for its first self-titled album, as it was the first popular music album in the former Yugoslavian countries in Macedonian. The album was a major success and it is listed among the top ten rock albums ever released in former Yugoslavian countries. Mizar was formed in 1981 in the then Socialist Republic of Macedonia. Because of the band's avant-garde sound and image, its Christian leanings and support for Macedonian self-determination, they were viewed with certain degree of suspicion by the former authorities.
