Badgerline
Badgerline was a bus operator in and around Bristol from 1985 until 2003. Its headquarters were in Weston-super-Mare. Initially a part of the Bristol Omnibus Company, it was privatised in September 1986 and sold to Badgerline Holdings in a management buyout. It went on to purchase a number of bus companies in England and Wales. In November 1993, Badgerline Group was listed on the stock exchange and, on 16 June 1995, it merged with the GRT Group to form FirstBus. In 2018, Badgerline was reintroduced as the name for First West of England's bus services in and around Weston-super-Mare. History 1906-1980 The Bristol Tramways Company started operating buses in 1906 to feed traffic into their tram services from beyond the boundaries of the city of Bristol. Eastern National was a bus company operating in south-east England, primarily in Essex, from 1929 to the 1990s. Early history Eastern National Omnibus Company commenced operating in 1929 as a joint venture between the London and North Eastern Railway, the London, Midland and Scottish Railway and the National Omnibus & Transport Company. The National company had originated in 1909 as the National Steam Car Company, operating steam bus services in London. The London services ceased in 1919, when the company was renamed National Omnibus & Transport Company. Yorkshire Rider was a bus company in West Yorkshire, England. History To comply with the Transport Act 1985, the West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive transferred its bus operations to an arms length company named Yorkshire Rider on 26 October 1986. On 21 October 1988, Yorkshire Rider was privatised, being sold to a management buyout. In August 1989, Yorkshire Rider purchased West Yorkshire Road Car Company Leeds and Bradford garages, and associated routes, from AJS Group. South Wales Transport was a bus company that operated services in South Wales centred on Swansea and West Wales. History South Wales Transport commenced operating on 2 May 1914 in Swansea.
