Badara Sène (referee)
Badara Mamaya Sène (5 March 1945 – 22 June 2020 in Rufisque) was a Senegalese football referee best known for officiating the 1992 African Cup of Nations final between Ivory Coast & Ghana. He was a referee during three Africa Cup of Nations final tournaments (1988, 1990, 1992). He also took charge of one match each at the 1988 Olympic Games (China vs Sweden) and 1992 AFC Asian Cup (Qatar vs China). After retirement from football he served as the mayor of Rufisque Rufisque ( ar, روفيسك; Wolof: Tëngeéj) is a city in the Dakar region of western Senegal, at the base of the Cap-Vert Peninsula. Rufisque
Rufisque ( ar, روفيسك; Wolof: Tëngeéj) is a city in the Dakar region of western Senegal, at the base of the Cap-Vert Peninsula. It has a population of 179,797 (2002 census). In the past it was an important port city in its own right, but is now a suburb of Dakar. Rufisque is also the capital of the department of the same name and lies east of Dakar, the capital of Senegal. Football At The 1988 Summer Olympics
An association football tournament was played as part of the 1988 Summer Olympics. The tournament featured 16 men's national teams from six continental confederations. The teams were drawn into four groups of four with each group playing a round-robin tournament. At the end of the group stage, the top two teams advanced to the knockout stage, beginning with the quarter-finals and culminating with the gold medal match at the Seoul Olympic Stadium on 1 October 1988. Before the final match, the Soviets relocated from the Olympic Village to Soviet steamship stationed nearby. After winning the gold medal, each player from the Soviet team received 15 thousand dollars from the Soviet government.
