Badar Durrez Ahmed
Badar Durrez Ahmed (born 16 March 1956) is an Indian judge. He is former Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court and Judge of Delhi High Court. He has served as Acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court twice. Ahmed is presently the Secretary of the Ghalib Institute. Early and personal life Ahmed was born in 1956 in Shillong, Meghalaya, the son of Dr. Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed who was President of India (24 August 1974 – 11 February 1977) by his wife, Abida Begum, a lady from Haldoi. His family is related to the royal family of Loharu and to the famous Urdu poet Mirza Ghalib. Ahmed is married to Saba Begum (born on 2 February 1959), younger daughter of Nawab Sayyid Zulfikar Ali Khan Bahadur, Nawab of Rampur, by his first wife Begum Noor Bano, a politician belonging to the Congress Party. Zulfikar Ali Khan
Major Nawab Sayyid Zulfikar Ali Khan Bahadur (11 March 1934 – 5 April 1992) was an Indian politician and an Indian army officer who ruled as Titular Nawab of Rampur from 1982 to 1992, succeeding his elder brother Murtaza Ali Khan Bahadur. Early life Sayyid Zulfikar Ali Khan Bahadur was born at Rampur on 11 March 1934, the second son of Nawab Sir Sayyid Raza Ali Khan Bahadur. He was commissioned into the Indian Army. He retired from the army as a Major, then worked as a tea planter in Assam for several years. Siddhartha Shankar Ray
Siddhartha Shankar Ray (20 October 1920 – 6 November 2010) was an Indian lawyer, diplomat and Indian National Congress politician from West Bengal. In his political career he held a number of offices, including Union Minister of Education (1971–72), Chief Minister of West Bengal (1972–77), Governor of Punjab (1986–89) and Indian Ambassador to the United States (1992–96). He was at one point the main troubleshooter for the Congress Party. Biography Ray was born in a Baidya family. Ray's father, Sudhir Kumar Ray, was a well known barrister of Calcutta High Court and a member of the Indian National Congress and his mother Aparna Devi, was the elder daughter of the barrister and nationalist leader Chittaranjan Das and Basanti Devi grew up in England. Begum Noor Bano served as a Member of Parliament in the 11th Lok Sabha and 13th Lok Sabha, lower house of parliament of India. Rampur State
Rampur State was a 15 gun-salute princely state of British India. It came into existence on 7 October 1774 as a result of a treaty with Oudh. Following independence in 1947, Rampur State and other princely states of the area, such as Benares and Tehri Garhwal were merged into the United Provinces. Rampur state had its capital in Rampur city and its total area was 945 sq miles. The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh is the common high court for union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
