Badamasi Maccido
Badamasi Maccido (1961 – 29 October 2006) was elected federal Senator for the Sokoto North constituency of Sokoto State, Nigeria in April 2003 on the All Nigeria People's Party (ANPP) platform. He died in a plane crash in October 2006. Maccido was born in 1961, son of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Maccido, and went to school at Federal Government College, Sokoto. He graduated from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria with a Bsc in Building Engineering. He once served as a Sokoto State commissioner in the administration of Governor Attahiru Bafarawa. Maccido was elected Senator for Sokoto North, taking his seat in May 2003. In April 2005 the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) arraigned Maccido and others for involvement in an alleged N55 million budget bribe scam. Adolphus Wabara
Adolphus Nduneweh Wabara (born 1 June 1948) is a Nigerian politician and diplomat who served as the 10th Senate President of Nigeria from 2003 to 2005. A pioneer member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Adolphus had previously been a member of the National Republican Convention (NRC) and a House of Representative member for Abia State in the 3rd Republic Nigerian National Assembly. He proceeded to join the People’s Democratic Party in 1998 and was elected as Abia South’s senator in the Nigerian Senate for two consecutive tenures. He was educated in the Soviet Union, at the Kyiv State University (1977-1976) where he graduated with a Master of Arts in International Relations with distinction. ADC Airlines Flight 053 (ADK053) was a scheduled passenger flight operated by ADC Airlines from Nigeria's capital of Abuja to Sokoto. On 29 October 2006, the Boeing 737-2B7 crashed onto a corn field shortly after take-off from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, killing 96 out of 105 people on board. The investigation of the crash, conducted by Nigeria's Accident Investigation Bureau, blamed the pilot's decision to take off in unsuitable weather as the primary cause of the crash, as presence of windshear at the time posed serious risk to the aircraft's ability to fly. Further investigation revealed inadequate company oversights on windshear recovery training and lack of teamwork among the pilots of Flight 053. Professor Fabian Ngozichukwu Chinedum Osuji (born 20 January 1942) was the Federal Minister of Education in Nigeria from July 2003 until March 2005.
