Bad Lieutenant (band)
Bad Lieutenant ( ) was an English alternative rock band formed following the second breakup of New Order. The band consisted of former New Order members Bernard SumnerThe ''Never Cry Another Tear'' album liner notes explicitly state, "Bad Lieutenant are Phil Cunningham, Jake Evans, Bernard Sumner" and Phil Cunningham as well as Rambo & Leroy's Jake Evans. The name of the band is taken from the 1992 film ''Bad Lieutenant'' directed by Abel Ferrara, which a friend of Johnny Marr's was watching when Sumner visited Marr's house. History Formation In May 2007, New Order's Peter Hook was interviewed by British radio station XFM and asked if New Order was over. He announced that he and Bernard Sumner were no longer working together. After Hook's announcement, a spokesperson for the band denied the claims and said that with or without Hook, New Order would continue to make music. Tom Chapman
Thomas Louis Chapman (born 15 May 1972, Chevreuse, France) is a Franco British musician, producer and songwriter, best known as being the bass guitarist of English rock band New Order. He is also one of the founding members of Anglo-American group ShadowParty and, more recently in 2020, Sea Fever. Bad Lieutenant Chapman joined English alternative rock band Bad Lieutenant, formed by Bernard Sumner during a break from New Order, in 2009 as bass player. The band also featured Phil Cunningham (guitars), Jake Evans (guitars and vocals), Alex James (bass), Jack Mitchell (drums), and Stephen Morris (drums). Capesthorne Hall
Capesthorne Hall is a country house near the village of Siddington, Cheshire, England. The house and its private chapel were built in the early 18th century, replacing an earlier hall and chapel nearby. They were built to Neoclassical designs by William Smith and (probably) his son Francis. Later in the 18th century, the house was extended by the addition of an orangery and a drawing room. In the 1830s the house was remodelled by Edward Blore; the work included the addition of an extension and a frontage in Jacobean style, and joining the central block to the service wings. In about 1837 the orangery was replaced by a large conservatory designed by Joseph Paxton. In 1861 the main part of the house was virtually destroyed by fire. It was rebuilt by Anthony Salvin, who generally followed Blore's designs but made modifications to the front, rebuilt the back of the house in Jacobean style, and altered the interior. Centrepoint (charity)
Centrepoint is a charity in the United Kingdom which provides accommodation and support to homeless people aged 16–25. The Prince of Wales has been a patron of the organization since 2005; his first patronage. His mother Diana, Princess of Wales, was patron of the organization before she died. The charity's accommodation includes emergency nightshelters; short and long stay hostels; specialist projects for care leavers, ex-offenders and young single parents; foyers and supported flats; and floating support services. History The charity was founded by the Anglo-Catholic socialist priest Kenneth Leech and set up its first shelter in a Soho church on 16 December 1969. It was named Centrepoint in response to the building Centre Point being seen as an "affront to the homeless" for being left empty to make money for the property developer. Platt Fields Park
Platt Fields Park is a large public park in Fallowfield, Manchester, England which is home to Platt Hall. Fallowfield lies to the south and Wilmslow Road runs along its eastern edge. Description The centrepiece of the park is a large pleasure pond, which is used for boating and fishing. The pond has an island sanctuary in the middle, as well as a pondside visitors' centre and a boathouse. The park also contains part of Gore Brook and part of the Nico (Mickle) Ditch. There are gardens of different kinds, including community orchard gardens, which contain ferns, roses and heathers. There is also an educational garden and an environmental area, as well as Elizabeth II Jubilee gardens and an Eco Arts garden near to the boating pond. Ian George Brown (born 20 February 1963) is an English singer and multi-instrumentalist. He was the lead singer of the alternative rock band The Stone Roses from their formation in 1983. Following the split in 1996, he began a solo career, releasing seven studio albums, a greatest hits compilation, a remix album, an 11-disc box set titled ''Collection'', and 19 singles. Between March and June 2010 a series of volcanic events at Eyjafjallajökull in Iceland caused enormous disruption to air travel across Western Europe. The disruptions started over an initial period of six days in April 2010. Additional localised disruption continued into May 2010, and eruptive activity persisted until June 2010. The eruption was declared officially over in October 2010, after 3 months of inactivity, when snow on the glacier did not melt. The Teenagers (French Band)
The Teenagers were a French synth-pop musical trio formed in late 2005, originally as a joke. They achieved some degree of notoriety with the song "Homecoming", both for its catchy sound and for its explicit content. Their debut album '' Reality Check'' was released in the UK on 17 March 2008 and 18 March 2008 in the rest of Europe and the United States.
