Basketbalvereniging Amstelveen was a professional basketball club based in Amstelveen, Netherlands. History BV Amstelveen had to wait until the 1970s to celebrate the first successes in the Dutch league. The club under the sponsorship name of Kinzo Amstelveen became back to back Dutch champions in the biennium 1975–76/1976–77(ranked first twice in a row with 29–7 and 33–3 record in the regular seasons each year). Amstelveen () is a municipality in the province of North Holland, Netherlands with a population of 92.353 as of 2022. It is a suburban part of the Amsterdam metropolitan area. The municipality of Amstelveen consists of the historical villages of Bovenkerk and Nes aan de Amstel. In addition, as well as Downtown Amstelveen (Dutch: ''Amstelveen stadshart''), the following neighbourhoods have been recently built: Westwijk, Bankras-Kostverloren, Groenelaan, Waardhuizen, Middenhoven, Randwijk, Elsrijk and Keizer Karelpark. Dutch Basketball League
The Dutch Basketball League (DBL), formerly the Eredivisie, was the highest professional basketball league in the Netherlands, run by the Federatie Eredivisie Basketball (FEB). Since 2021, the league has been replaced by the Belgian-Dutch BNXT League. The league had a closed system: to participate, a team has to have enough money and potential. The league began in 1960 as the ''Eredivisie'' and was organized by the NBB and later the FEB. In 1977 the league introduced play-offs. As of 2019, the Dutch Basketball League consists of ten teams and plays under the FIBA rules. 1976–77 FIBA European Champions Cup
The 1976–77 FIBA European Champions Cup was the 20th edition of the European top-tier level professional basketball club competition FIBA European Champions Cup (now called EuroLeague). The Final was held at the Pionir Hall, in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, on April 7, 1977. Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv defeated Mobilgirgi Varese, by a score of 78–77. This year saw a competition system change, as FIBA opted to replace classic knock-out round qualifications with a group stage. NBB-Beker
The Basketball Cup, formerly the NBB Cup ( nl, NBB-Beker), is an annual cup competition for Netherlands, Dutch basketball teams organised by the Basketball Nederland. Every team in the Netherlands can participate by signing up for the preliminary rounds. Professional basketball teams from the Dutch Basketball League (DBL) enter the tournament in the fourth round. From 1977 until 1990 professional teams were not allowed to participate in the competition. The tournament is organized in a knock-out format, with quarter- and semi-finals being two-legged series while the final is played in a single game. Heroes Den Bosch and Donar (basketball club), Donar are the two clubs with the most cup titles, as both have a total of 7 titles. Owen Wells (December 9, 1950–April 27, 1993) was an American basketball player. A 6'7" forward, he attended the University of Detroit Mercy and went to English High School in Boston, Massachusetts. Wells played 33 games for the Houston Rockets during the 1974-75 NBA season, averaging 3.0 points per game. Wells also had a stint in Australia's National Basketball League with the Sydney Supersonics The Sydney Supersonics are a defunct basketball team that competed in Australia's National Basketball League (NBL). Dan "Danny" Cramer (born June 2, 1952) is a former American-Dutch professional basketball player. College career Cramer starred at the University of Denver from 1971–1974. A 6’2’’ forward, he scored 504 points in 77 games (6.5 per contest) and grabbed a total of 173 rebounds (2.2 per contest). He broke the school’s record for points in a single game when he scored 50 against Southern Mississippi on February 4, 1974. He left school as a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and had majored in accounting.
