BMW Asian Open
The BMW Asian Open was a men's professional golf tournament that was co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and the European Tour. The event was founded in 2001, as part of the European Tour's drive to expand into Asia, and China in particular. The first two editions were held at Ta Shee Golf and Country Club in Taiwan, before the tournament was moved to the People's Republic of China in 2004, since when it was played at the Tomson Shanghai Pudong Golf Club in Pudong, Shanghai. Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (born 13 October 1980) is a Spanish professional golfer. He has played on the European Tour, winning seven times, and on the PGA Tour. Early life Fernández-Castaño was born in Madrid. 2006 European Tour
The 2006 European Tour was the 35th golf season since the European Tour officially began in 1972. The season began with five events in late 2005 and consisted of 47 official money events, equalling the record set the previous year. This included the four major championships and three World Golf Championships, which are also sanctioned by the PGA Tour. 27 events took place in Europe, 12 in Asia, five in the United States, two in South Africa and one in Australia. Total prize money exceeded €117 million, including nearly €40 million in the major championships and WGC events. Raphaël Jacquelin (born 8 May 1974) is a French professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. Career Jacquelin was born in Lyon. He turned professional in 1995, after winning the French Amateur Championship. Jacquelin began his professional career on the Challenge Tour. In 1997 he claimed two wins on his way to fourth on the season ending money list, which was sufficient to grant him full playing privileges on the European Tour for the following season. The 2007 European Tour was the 36th golf season since the European Tour officially began in 1972. The season began with six tournaments in late 2006 and consisted of record 52 official money events, surpassing the 2005 and 2006 seasons.
