Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association or BGMEA ( bn, বাংলাদেশ তৈরি পোশাক প্রস্তুত ও রপ্তানিকারক সমিতি) is a nationwide trade organization of garments manufacturers in Bangladesh and is located in the capital city of Dhaka. It plays a pivotal role in the country's earning sector of foreign trades. History BGMEA was founded in 1983. BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology, BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology is owned by the trade body. The trade body has a research wing. BGMEA Bhaban BGMEA Bhaban (''BGMEA Building'') is a 16-storey building that is the headquarters of BGMEA and is located in Hatirjheel, Dhaka. Hatirjheel ( bn, হাতিরঝিল , ; lit. ''Lake of Elephant'') is a lakefront in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Before 2009, It was a slum area that has been transformed into a recreation area as well as an alternate way to ease traffic congestion. Surendra Kumar Sinha (born 1 February 1951), commonly known as SK Sinha is a Bangladeshi lawyer and jurist who served as the 21st Chief Justice of Bangladesh. He resigned from the position in November 2017 amid the 16th amendment verdict controversy. Early life and education Sinha was born in a Kshatriya Family in the present-day Tilakpur village in Kamalganj, Moulvibazar District in 1951 to Bishnupriya Manipuri parents, Lalit Mohan Sinha and Dhanabati Sinha.
