BBC Jersey
BBC Radio Jersey (Jèrriais: ''BBC Radio Jèrri'') is the BBC's local radio station serving the Bailiwick of Jersey. It broadcasts on FM, AM, DAB+, Freeview and via BBC Sounds from studios on Parade Road in Saint Helier. Like other BBC enterprises in Jersey, funding comes primarily from television licence fees collected in Jersey. According to RAJAR, the station has a weekly audience of 20,000 listeners and a 9.3% share as of September 2022. History The station first aired on 15 March 1982, when it was opened by George Howard, the then chairman of the BBC. The first voice to be hear was that of Peter Gore who was one of the four-person start-up team headed by Mike Warr. It launched from Broadcasting House, just off Rouge Bouillon in St Helier, and moved to its present premises in Parade Road in March 1994. St Helier (; Jèrriais: ; french: Saint-Hélier) is one of the twelve parishes of Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands in the English Channel. St Helier has a population of 35,822 – over one-third of the total population of Jersey – and is the Capital city, capital of the island. The town of St Helier is the largest settlement and only town of Jersey. Channel 103
Channel 103 is an independent local radio station broadcasting to the island of Jersey on 103.7 FM and DAB+ digital radio. The station launched on 25 October 1992. Channel 103 is part of Tindle Radio, which also owns Island FM in Guernsey and Midlands 103 in Ireland. According to RAJAR, the station has a weekly audience of 52,000 and a 29.1% market share as of December 2022 - the highest of any local radio station in the British Isles. In late 2020, Channel 103 became a part of Bauer's Hits Radio Network for commercial sales. It remains owned by Tindle with no shared programming. Programming Channel 103's core audience is the 25-44 age group, playing contemporary hits - predominantly from the early 1990s to the present day. News bulletins are presented locally from 6:30am until 6pm, Monday to Friday.
