Bø, Telemark
Bø is a village and municipality in Telemark county, Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Midt-Telemark, but was historically regarded as part of Grenland. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Bø i Telemark ("Bø in Telemark"). Bø has been a settlement since ancient times, a parish since the middle ages and became a municipality (''formannskapsdistrikt'') in 1838. The area of Lunde was separated from Bø in 1867 to become a separate municipality. Bø has a population of 5,977 (2015). Bø's economy is mainly based on agriculture, forestry, tourism, education and public administration. Bø has the character of a university town and is home to one of the principal campuses of the University of Southeast Norway; it was also the seat of one of the university's three predecessor institutions, Telemark University College. Skånland Municipality
Skånland ( sme, Skánit) is a former municipality that was located in the old Troms county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1926 until its dissolution in 2020 when it was merged into Tjeldsund Municipality. It was part of the Central Hålogaland region, just southeast of the city of Harstad. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Evenskjer. Other villages included Grovfjord, Renså, Sandstrand, and Tovik. The Tjeldsund Bridge in Skånland connects the island of Hinnøya (the largest coastal island in Norway) to the Norwegian mainland. Finn Bø
Finn Bø (4 July 1893 – 24 April 1962) was a Norwegian songwriter, revue writer, playwright, journalist, instructor and theatre critic. Career Bø is particularly remembered for his song Norge i rødt, hvitt og blått, which became extremely popular in 1945. Among his other popular songs are "Nå går'n på gummisåler" and "Bare rundt omkring", both from 1928. He published the anecdote collection ''Forbuden frukt'' in 1945, and the song collection ''Jeg tar mig den frihet'' in 1946. Several of his plays were also adapted into films. Personal life His parents were Johan Christian Andreas Bø (1850–1924) and Valborg Hansen (1863–1910). He married Alfhild Knagenhjelm Poppe in 1930. Old Bø Church ( no, Bø gamle kyrkje) is a former parish church of the Church of Norway in Midt-Telemark Municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. It is located in the village of Bø.
