Bình Minh (Thanh Oai)
Bình Minh is a town of Vĩnh Long Province, in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam. Under the decree No 89/NQ-CP dated Dec 28, 2012, the cabinet of Vietnam SR decided to upgrade Bình Minh of Vĩnh Long to town from rural district. The area of Bình Minh is 93.62 km2 with 95,282 inhabitants, 2013 census. As of 2003 the district had a population of 177,275. The district covers an area of 244 km2. The district capital lies at Cái Vồn. Geography Bình Minh town lies to the south-west of Vĩnh Long province. It shares the border with: Bình Tân district to the North. Trà Ôn district and Cần Thơ City to the South. Bình Tân district and Cần Thơ City to the West. District-level Town (Vietnam)
A district-level town () is a type of second tier subdivision of Vietnam. District-level towns along with urban districts, districts, municipal cities, and provincial cites have equal status. Also by virtue of Decree No. 42/2009/ND-CP, towns are officially classified into Class-3 or Class-4. The towns may only be a capital of a province, but not of a municipality as the second tier subdivision. At the third tier, towns are divided into wards and communes. Most provincial capitals were once towns, but now most of them have become provincial cities. 1975 Spring Offensive
The 1975 spring offensive (), officially known as the general offensive and uprising of spring 1975 (), was the final North Vietnamese campaign in the Vietnam War that led to the capitulation of the Republic of Vietnam. After the initial success Battle of Phước Long, capturing Phước Long Province, the North Vietnamese leadership increased the scope of the People's Army of Vietnam's (PAVN) offensive and captured and held the key Central Highlands (Vietnam), Central Highlands city of Buôn Ma Thuột between 10 and 18 March. These operations were intended to be preparatory to launching a general offensive in 1976.
