Béatrice Atallah
Béatrice Jeanine Atallah (born 17 August 1959) is a Malagasy politician from Lebanese origins who has served as Madagascar's Minister of Foreign Affairs since January 2015 until August 2017. Early life and education Atallah was born in 1959 in Anosy. Her father was a senior official in the colonial administration and she therefore has dual Malagasy and French citizenship. She has master's degree in private law (1988) and a certificate in Diplomatic Studies from the Centre for Strategic and Diplomatic Studies (2009). Career Atallah was a magistrate, spending three years on the Antananarivo Court of Appeal, and claims to be apolitical. Atallah was a member of the National Electoral Council from 2002 until 2009, and an advisor to then-Minister of Finance Hery Rajaonarimampianina from 2009 to 2013, before being appointed to chair the Commission for Elections from December 2013 until January 2015, managing the 2013 election which was won by Rajaonarimampianina. Anosy
Anosy is one of the 22 regions of Madagascar. It is located in the southeast of the country, on the eastern side of what was once the Toliara Province. The name ''Anosy'' means "island(s)" in Malagasy. Due to a strategic sea route running along its coast, Anosy had been an important crossroads for the Malagasy, Muslims, and Europeans. In the mid-1600s, it was the location of the first French colonial settlement in the Indian Ocean. The region was part of the Imerina Kingdom for much of the 1800s and part of the French colony of Madagascar from the late 1800s to 1960. Jean Ravelonarivo (born 17 April 1959) is a Malagasy military officer and politician who was Prime Minister of Madagascar from 17 January 2015 to 13 April 2016. Career Ravelonarivo was born on 17 April 1959 in Sakadomo, Berevo, Madagascar. He was a pilot stationed at the Ivato Aeronaval Base between 1985 and 1997. Ravelonarivo was appointed successor to Prime Minister Roger Kolo on 17 January 2015. Opposition members Andry Rajoelina, Jean Louis Robinson and Albert Camille Vital complained over the appointment because Ravelonarivo's wife is close friends with President Rajaonarimampianina's wife.
