Alexander Baerwald
Alexander Baerwald (1877–1930) was a German Jewish architect best known for his work in Haifa, today in Israel, during History of Palestine#Ottoman period, Late Ottoman and Mandate Palestine, British rule. Life and career Baerwald was born in Berlin, Germany on 3 March 1877. He studied at the Technical University of Berlin ("Technische Hochschule Charlottenburg", 1897–1901), interrupted by the summer semester 1898 at the Technische Hochschule of Munich. From 1903 to 1927 he was employed with the Prussian Construction and Financial Direction of Berlin, responsible for public constructions in Berlin. He advanced to become a Royal Ministerial Construction Councillor (german: Königlicher Ministerialbaurat). David Francis Baerwald (born July 11, 1960) is an American singer-songwriter, composer, and musician. Career Baerwald first came to prominence in 1986 as one half of the duo David & David, with David Ricketts. David and David's sole album, ''Boomtown'', went platinum and stayed on the Billboard album chart for over a year, winning substantial critical acclaim, the debut single " Welcome to the Boomtown" became a top 40 Billboard hit. The duo split up following the success of that album for unexplained reasons. Moritz Baerwald
Moritz Baerwald (3 December 1860 – 26 December 1919) was a German lawyer and politician of the German Democratic Party, a member of the Prussian House of Representatives and the Weimar National Assembly. Baerwald was born in Thorn, West Prussia (Toruń, Poland), where he grew up and passed his Abitur. He studied law at the Universities of Heidelberg, Leipzig and Berlin and started to practise as a lawyer in Bromberg (Bydgoszcz, Poland) in 1887 (notary since 1908). Baerwald became an active member of the Jewish community of Bromberg and, in 1902, a member of the executive board of the Chamber of Advocates of Posen (Poznań, Poland). In 1903 Baerwald was elected a member of the town council of Bromberg and represented the constituency of Bromberg 5 (Mogilno – Wongrowitz – Znin) in the Prussian House of Representatives from 1912 to 1918. Paul Baerwald (September 27, 1871 – July 2, 1961) was a German-born Jewish-American banker and philanthropist. Early life and family Baerwald was born on September 27, 1871 in Frankfurt-on-Main, Germany, the son of Dr. Herman Baerwald and Selma Frenkel. Career Baerwald began working in the banking business with Lazard-Speyer-Ellissen in Frankfurt from 1886 to 1891. He then worked for Speyer Brothers in London from 1891 to 1896. From 1896 to 1906, he worked with Speyer and Company in New York City. He then worked as a partner in Lazard Frères until 1930, when he retired from banking to focus on entirely on philanthropic and communal endeavors. Franz Berwald
Franz Adolf Berwald (23 July 1796 – 3 April 1868) was a Swedish Romantic composer. He made his living as an orthopedist and later as the manager of a saw mill and glass factory, and became more appreciated as a composer after his death than he had been in his lifetime. Life and works Berwald was born in Stockholm and came from a family with four generations of musicians; his father, a violinist in the Royal Opera Orchestra, taught Franz the violin from an early age; he soon appeared in concerts. In 1809, Karl XIII came to power and reinstated the Royal Chapel; the following year Berwald started working there, as well as playing the violin in the court orchestra and the opera, receiving lessons from Edouard du Puy, and also started composing. The summers were off-season for the orchestra, and Berwald travelled around Scandinavia, Finland and Russia.
