Bythaelurus Bachi
''Bythaelurus'' is a genus of deep-water catsharks and part of the family Scyliorhinidae. The genus ''Bythaelurus'' Compagno 1988 was first described as a subgenus of ''Halaelurus'' Gill 1862 based on several morphological characteristics including a soft body with thin skin, a bluntly rounded snout without a pointed, knob-like tip, and eyes not noticeably elevated on the dorsal surface of the head. Members of this genus are generally found in deep water and have more somber body coloration. Dusky Catshark
The dusky catshark (''Bythaelurus canescens'') is a catshark of the family Scyliorhinidae that is endemic to the southeast Pacific Ocean, off the coasts of Peru and Chile. It grows to a maximum length of 70 cm, and is oviparous like many other chondrichthyans in the Indo-Pacific. Ecology ''Bythaelurus canescens'' is deep-sea shark, generally located between depths of 250–1260 meters. It lives primarily on mud on the upper continental slopes, but can also be found on rocky bottoms. It is an important mesopredator, and is often caught it shrimp trawl nets in northern and central Chilean coasts. Sometimes ''B. canescens'' makes up to 20.3% of the total catch. In spite of this, little is known about it because it is often thrown back without further consideration. The dusky snout catshark (''Bythaelurus naylori'') is a catshark of the family Scyliorhinidae. This species is found from the Southwest Indian Ridge, southwestern Indian Ocean. The specimens were collected from 89–1,443 m depth in both bottom trawls and midwater trawls. The shallowest catch record of the new species, possibly at 89 m, came from a midwater trawl. Peter Robert Last
Peter Robert Last is an Australian ichthyologist, curator of the Australian National Fish Collection and a senior principal research scientist at CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research (CMAR) in Hobart, Tasmania. He is an elasmobranch expert and has described many new species of shark. Last graduated from the University of Tasmania in 1983 with a PhD titled "Aspects of the ecology and zoogeography of fishes from soft-bottom habitats of the Tasmanian shore zone". Last is the co-author of ''Sharks and Rays of Australia'' and co-author of ''A revision of the Australian handfishes (Lophiiformes: Brachionichthyidae), with descriptions of three new genera and nine new species''. Alfred William Alcock
Alfred William Alcock (23 June 1859 in Bombay – 24 March 1933 in Belvedere, Kent) was a British physician, naturalist, and carcinologist. Early life and education Alcock was the son of a sea-captain, John Alcock in Bombay, India who retired to live in Blackheath. His mother was a daughter of Christopher Puddicombe, the only son of a Devon squire. Alcock studied at Mill Hill School, at Blackheath Proprietary School and at Westminster School. In 1876 his father faced financial losses and he was taken out of school and sent to India in the Wynaad district. Here he was taken care of by relatives engaged in coffee-planting. As a boy of 17 he spent time in the jungles of Malabar. Career Coffee-planting in Wynaad declined and Alcock obtained a post at a commission agent's office in Calcutta.
