Byglandsfjord
Byglandsfjord is a village in Bygland municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located in the Setesdal valley along the Norwegian National Road 9 and the river Otra in the far southern part of the municipality, just north of the border with Evje og Hornnes municipality and at the southern end of the lake Byglandsfjorden. The village has a population (2016) of 365 which gives the village a population density of . Revsnes Hotel offers accommodation. The highest point in the area surrounding the village is the tall ''Årdalsknaben'', about northeast of the village. The village itself sits at an elevation of about above sea level. Byglandsfjorden
Byglandsfjorden is a lake in Agder county, Norway. The lake lies on the river Otra, primarily in the municipality of Bygland, but the far southern tip of the lake extends into the neighboring municipality of Evje og Hornnes. The river flows out of the lake Åraksfjorden to the north and into the Byglandsfjorden through a narrow channel, and the southern end of the Byglandsfjorden is marked by a dam along the river. The villages of Byglandsfjord, Grendi, Longerak, Lauvdal, and Bygland are all located on the eastern shore of the lake along the Norwegian National Road 9. The western shore of the lake is much more sparsely populated, with County Road 304 following that shoreline. Byglandsfjord Station
Byglandsfjord Station was a railway station in the village of Byglandsfjord in Bygland municipality in Agder county, Norway. It was the terminus station for the old Setesdal Line that traveled up the Setesdal valley from Kristiansand - Grovane - Byglandsfjord until the railway line was closed in 1962. The station sits on the eastern shore of the river Otra, at the south end of the lake Byglandsfjorden. Further transport into the Setesdal valley happened by steamboat on the Byglandsfjorden lake. Setesdal
Setesdal (; older name: Sætersdal) is a valley and a traditional district in Agder County in southern Norway. It consists of the municipalities of Bykle, Valle, Bygland, Iveland, and Evje og Hornnes. The Otra river flows through the valley of Setesdal into the sea near Kristiansand. It flows southward from the Hardangervidda plateau in Telemark. The historic Setesdal starts at Evje and extends as far as the farm Bjåen, at the edge of the traditional region of Telemark. Øvre (Upper) Setesdal is in the municipality of Bykle. Kjell Kristian Rike
Kjell Kristian Rike (12 July 1944 – 19 May 2008) was a Norwegian sports commentator, originally from Byglandsfjord. He reported on biathlon events for NRK starting in 1977, and also on cross-country skiing from 1985. He was a commentator during several football world championships, and also at golf, cycling, track and field athletics, shooting, harness racing, and alpine skiing events. Rike was member of the original staff of the long-running TV series '' Norge rundt'' in 1976, and is credited for having suggested the signature tune for the program, "Norsk dans nr. 2" by Edvard Grieg. He was an active sport shooter and a Norwegian champion in 1974. He died on 19 May 2008, about a month after he was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Ose, Norway
Ose is a village in Bygland municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located along the river Otra, just north of the lake Åraksfjorden. The Norwegian National Road 9 runs through the village. Just across the river to the north lies the village of Austad, and about to the north along Highway 9 lies the village of Moi. The Reiårsfossen waterfall lies about to the south. The area just southeast of the waterfall is the site of Reiårsfossen Camping, which is also the location of the Ose Country Music festival. Evje is the administrative centre of Evje og Hornnes municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located along the river Otra. Otra
The Otra is the largest river in the Sørlandet region of Norway. It begins in Setesdalsheiene mountains at the lake Breidvatnet in Bykle municipality in Agder county, just south of the border with Vinje municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county.
