Bx3 (New York City Bus)
The Bx3 bus constitutes the University Avenue Line public transit line in The Bronx and Manhattan, operating between Washington Heights, Manhattan at Broadway & 179th Street, and Kingsbridge, Bronx, at 238th Street station on the line. It operates mainly via University Avenue, serving the West Bronx and Upper Manhattan. Current route The Bx3 starts with the buses at 179th Street in Washington Heights, Manhattan. It then uses 181st Street to access the Washington Bridge, which it uses to get to The Bronx. Immediately after the bridge, it turns onto University Avenue, which it continues on until Kingsbridge Road, serving Morris Heights and University Heights. Washington Heights, Manhattan
Washington Heights is a neighborhood in the uppermost part of the New York City borough of Manhattan. The New York City borough of Manhattan contains 214 numbered east–west streets ranging from 1st to 228th, the majority of them designated in the Commissioners' Plan of 1811. These streets do not run exactly east–west, because the grid plan is aligned with the Hudson River, rather than with the cardinal directions. West Bronx
The West Bronx is a region in the New York City borough of the Bronx. The region lies west of the Bronx River and roughly corresponds to the western half of the borough. The West Bronx is more densely populated than the East Bronx, and is closer to Upper Manhattan. MTA Regional Bus Operations operates local and express buses serving New York City in the United States out of 29 bus depots. These depots are located in all five boroughs of the city, with the exception of one located in nearby Yonkers in Westchester County. 21 of these depots serve MTA New York City Transit (NYCT)'s bus operations, while the remaining eight serve the MTA Bus Company (the successor to private bus operations taken over around 2006.) The George Washington Bridge Bus Station is a commuter bus terminal located at the east end of the George Washington Bridge in the Washington Heights area of Manhattan in New York City.
