Buur Dhaab
Buur Dhaab, also known as Buurdhaab or Bur Dab (, ), is a mountain range situated in the Togdheer and Sool regions of Somaliland. The mountain range stands at an elevation of 973 m, or 3,193 ft. Description The name "Buur Dhaab" translates to "rocky hill" in Somali language, Somali. The range forms the northern rim of the Ain Valley, and separates it and the Nugal Valley from the Haud. J Murray, who went on an expedition to Buur Dhaab, describes the range: History Buur Dhaab has also historically acted as a junction for trade caravans coming from the east on their way to Berbera port, passing through the Laba Gardai or Bah Lardis pass located within the range. Togdheer
Togdheer ( so, Togdheer, ar, تُوْجْدَيْر, Tūjdayr) is an administrative region ('' gobol'') in central Somaliland. Togdheer is bordered by Maroodi Jeex to the west, Saaxil to the north, Sanaag to the northeast, Sool to the east and Ethiopia to the south. Its capital is Burao. Overview Togdheer is bordered by Maroodi Jeex from the west, Sahil to the north, Ethiopia to the south, and Sanaag & Sool to the east. With its capital at Burao (Burco), the region's name is derived from the Togdheer River, which means "Long River" in Somali. The region has an approximate population of 350,000 people. Under British Somaliland, the Togdheer region was formerly the Burao district which was one of three districts that comprised the Burao region. The other two regions were Las Anod and Erigavo districts.
