Butts County, Georgia
Butts County is a county located in the central part of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 25,434, up from 23,655 in 2010. The county seat is Jackson. The county was created on December 24, 1825. Butts County is included in the ''Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell, GA Metropolitan Statistical Area''. In 2010, the center of population of Georgia was located in the northeastern portion of the county. History Butts County was formed on December 24, 1825, as the sixty-fourth county in Georgia from portions of Henry County and Monroe County. It was named by the Georgia General Assembly in honor of Samuel Butts, an officer who was killed in the Creek War in 1814. A year later, Jackson was created as the first city in the new county and became the county seat. Butts County Courthouse
The Butts County Courthouse is an historic former government building designed by Bruce & Morgan and constructed in 1898 by J.H. McKenzie & Son in Jackson, Butts County, Georgia, United States. The courthouse is located on West Third Street (US 23/ GA 42/ GA 16) and North Mulberry Street, across from the west end of the overlap with GA 36 (South Mulberry Street). Lake Jackson (Georgia)
Jackson Lake is one of the oldest reservoirs in Georgia, United States, southeast of Atlanta in a rural area situated within parts of three counties (Jasper, Newton and Butts). The Lloyd Shoals Dam was built in 1910 by Central Georgia Power Company, and electricity was originally generated for the city of Macon. Relative to others in the state, it is a smaller lake (about with of shoreline), which still generates electricity and provides a location for water sports, boating, wakeboarding and fishing. Interstate 75 In Georgia
Interstate 75 (I-75) in the US state of Georgia travels north–south along the U.S. Route 41 (US 41) corridor in the central part of the state, traveling through the cities of Valdosta, Macon, and Atlanta.
