Butler County is a county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It is part of Western Pennsylvania. As of the 2020 census, the population was 193,763. Its county seat is Butler. Butler County was created on March 12, 1800, from part of Allegheny County and named in honor of General Richard Butler, a hero of the American Revolution. Derek John West (born December 2, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Houston Astros organization. Career West attended University High School in Orange City, Florida. As a junior, he tore his hamstring playing for the school's basketball team, and was told that he would not play baseball again; the pain went away after eight weeks and he was able to continue playing. He transferred to Trinity Christian Academy in Deltona, Florida, in 2014. His fastball reached as a senior. He committed to attend the University of Pittsburgh to play college baseball for the Pittsburgh Panthers. West missed his freshman year due to recovery from Tommy John surgery and his sophomore year due to surgery to repair his anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments in his right knee. Kevan Smith (baseball)
Kevan Alan Smith (born June 28, 1988) is an American professional baseball catcher who is a free agent. He has previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Angels, Tampa Bay Rays, and Atlanta Braves. Prior to playing professionally, Smith attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he played for the Pittsburgh Panthers baseball and football teams. Jacke Healey (born June 26, 1988) is an American college baseball coach and former shortstop. Healey was the Co-head baseball coach at the Oakland University from 2017 to 2019 with Colin Kaline. Playing career Healey attended Lackawanna Trail High School in Factoryville, Pennsylvania. Healey played for the school's varsity baseball team all four years. Healey then enrolled at the Potomac State College of West Virginia University, to play college baseball for the Potomac State Catamounts baseball team. As a freshman at Potomac State in 2007, Healey and the Catamounts were defeated by Spartanburg Methodist College to go to the JUCO World Series. Healey had a .294 batting average, hit 4 doubles and a .529 SLG. As a sophomore in 2008, Healey batted .456 with a .823 SLG, 11 home runs, and 48 RBIs. Kelly Automotive Park
Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park is a baseball stadium located in Butler, Pennsylvania. Constructed in 1934, and rebuilt in 2008, the ballpark hosted minor league teams that were affiliated with the New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers, and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Today, there are over 400 games played at the park. High School teams such as Karns City High School, Knoch High School, Moniteau High School, North Catholic High School as well as Butler High School utilize the ballpark during their school seasons. Local colleges and universities also use Pullman Park for some of their home games.
