''Butcher Babies'' is the first EP released by the American heavy metal band Butcher Babies. It was self-released on May 29, 2012. The EP was produced by Andrew Murdock. Butcher Babies is an American groove metal band from Los Angeles, consisting of frontwomen Heidi Shepherd and Carla Harvey, guitarist Henry Flury (Amen), bassist Ricky Bonazza, and drummer Chase Brickenden. Their debut album, ''Goliath'', was released on July 9, 2013, via Century Media Records. It sold 3,300 copies in the US during its first week of release and charted at No. 3 on the Billboard Heatseeker chart and No. 112 on the Billboard 200. Groove Metal
Groove metal is a subgenre of heavy metal music that began in the early 1990s. The genre achieved success in the 1990s and continued having success in the 2000s. Inspired by thrash metal and traditional heavy metal, groove metal features raspy singing and screaming, down-tuned guitars, heavy guitar riffs, and syncopated rhythms. Unlike thrash metal, groove metal is usually slower and also uses elements of traditional heavy metal. Pantera are often considered the pioneers of groove metal, and groove metal expanded in the 1990s with bands like White Zombie, Machine Head, and Sepultura. Metalcore
Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Thrash Metal

Andrew Murdock (born January 24, 1962), also known as Mudrock, is an American record producer specializing in rock and metal genres. He is best known for producing Godsmack's ''Godsmack'' and ''Awake'' albums. More recently, Murdock has produced American metal band Avenged Sevenfold's albums ''Waking the Fallen'' and ''City of Evil'', as well as albums for Slunt, The Riverboat Gamblers, Powerman 5000, a series of singles for hardcore and metal band DYS, whom he also did live sound for in the 1980s, Eighteen Visions, Ünloco, Dave Reffett, Alice Cooper, and 50 Foot Wave's EP ''Power and Light''. Carla Harvey (born October 4, 1976) is an American singer, songwriter, musician, author, artist, actress, and former nude model. She is best known as co-vocalist of the American heavy metal band Butcher Babies. She landed her first job in Hollywood as an Entertainment Reporter for the Playboy Channel, and appeared on many popular network TV shows like ''Rules of Engagement''.
