Butch Gilliland
Leonard N. "Butch" Gilliland (born February 25, 1958) is a former NASCAR Winston Cup Series and Craftsman Truck Series driver from California. He was the 1997 Winston West Series champion and based on the west coast. All of his 10 Cup starts came at either Sears Point Raceway or Phoenix International Raceway, most of them as West competitors in Cup/West combination races, and all 12 of his Truck Series starts came at various west coast tracks. He has one NASCAR top-ten, which he recorded in a Truck Series race at Saugus Speedway in Santa Clarita, California in 1995. He retired from competitive racing in 2002. He is the father of former Cup Series driver David Gilliland and the grandfather of NASCAR Cup Series driver Todd Gilliland. The Toyota Owners 400 is a 400 lap NASCAR Cup Series stock car race held at the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Virginia. From 2007 to 2011, former race title sponsor Crown Royal named the race after the winner of an essay contest during Daytona Speedweeks. The winner of the first essay contest was Jim Stewart from Houma, Louisiana, with subsequent contests won by Dan Lowry of Columbiana, Ohio, and Russ Friedman of Huntington, New York, with the 2010 race being named for Army veteran Heath Calhoun of Clarksville, Tennessee. Since 2010 only military service members have been eligible to win the contest. Crown Royal moved the "Your Name Here" sponsorship to the Brickyard 400 beginning in 2012. The NASCAR Cup Series is the top racing series of the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR). Todd J. Gilliland (born May 15, 2000) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 38 Ford Mustang for Front Row Motorsports. He is the son of NASCAR driver and team owner David Gilliland. Racing career Early career Gilliland first started driving when he was three years old; his parents purchased a pink (later repainted to black) Barbie corvette with modified pedals and an additional battery to increase its speed. David Gilliland
David Leonard Gilliland (born April 1, 1976) is an American professional stock car racing driver and team owner. Since 2017, he has operated David Gilliland Racing, a team that races in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, ARCA Menards Series, and CARS Tour. Formerly a full-time competitor for a decade in the NASCAR Cup Series, he is now semi-retired and competes part-time in the Truck Series (in the No. 17 Ford F-150) and the ARCA Menards Series East and West, driving for his team.
