Doctor Jazz
"Doctor Jazz" is a popular tune and song written by Joe "King" Oliver in 1926. Publisher Walter Melrose got his name on it as co-composer, as was often his practice. It enjoyed its initial popularity in the 1920s. It continues to be played by Dixieland jazz groups. It has been performed by many notable acts, such as Jelly Roll Morton, Chris Barber, Harry Connick Jr. and Dutch Swing College Band. ''Doctor Jazz,'' as a record made by Jelly Roll Morton and his Red Hot Peppers in 1926, is a prime example of early New Orleans jazz counterpoint and collective improvisation. The number of special features, pre-written stop-time breaks and improvised solo passages in this record yield a tapestry of musical contrasts. Jazz was producing significant accomplishments in its other aspects, such as the development of the soloist, but the specifically New Orleans jazz style of collective counterpoint playing would reach its apotheosis here and in a few other 1926-7 Morton recordings. Buster Davis (wide Receiver)
Craig "Buster" Davis (born October 2, 1985) is a former American football wide receiver. He was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He played college football at Louisiana State University. Early years Davis was rated the number one wide receiver in Louisiana and a national blue chipper as a senior at O.P. Walker High School. In his final year he caught 82 passes for 1,171 yards and 16 touchdowns leading his school to the 4A state championship game. He was named an All-American by SuperPrep and ranked the No. 12 wide receiver in the country by Rivals.com. The ''Orlando Sentinel'' named Davis as a member of the All-Southern Team. He also made ''The Times-Picayunes Top 25 Blue-Chip list and ''Shreveport Times'' ' Top 20. College career Davis enrolled in LSU in 2003.
