''Buster'' was a sport comic magazine published in Sweden, Norway, and Finland in the period 1967–2005. Publication history In Sweden, ''Buster'' was published from 1967 to 2005, first by Centerförlaget (1967–1970), then by Semic Press (1970–1997), and finally by Egmont Publishing (1997–2005). In Norway, ''Buster'' was published from 1972 to 1977 (successively by Romanforlaget, Nordisk Forlag, and Semic), and then a new series, also by Semic, ran from 29 May 1984 to Summer 1994. In Finland, ''Buster'' was published from 1978 until the 1980s. Overview At first most of the material was taken from the UK edition, but as time went on the magazine produced more and more original material, with the focus relatively soon concentrated on British sport comics. Buster Capp
Buster Capp is a British comic strip series which debuted on 28 May 1960 in the magazine '' Buster'' and ran until January 2000. The character was the mascot of the magazine too. The series is a spin-off of ''Andy Capp'', starring Andy's young son Buster, despite not being drawn by the original artist of that comic, Reg Smythe. The first artist was Bill Titcombe, but Hugh McNeill took over as artist after less than a year. After a few years Àngel Nadal took over and drew the strip until 1974, when he was followed by Reg Parlett. Tom Paterson in turn took over from Parlett in 1985 and drew the strip until 1990. Billy's Boots
''Billy's Boots'' was a popular British comic strip by writer Fred Baker and artist John Gillatt, later continued by Mike Western. The original Billy's Boots was an earlier humorous series, written and drawn by Frank Purcell, which appeared in Tiger from December 23rd 1961 until July 13th 1963, with a similar premise to this later series. The later more serious Billy appeared in the first issue of '' Scorcher'' in 1970, and later moved to ''Tiger'' when the two comics merged in 1974. In 1985 ''Tiger'' in turn merged with ''Eagle'' and the strip moved again, however just a year later Billy's adventures relocated once more, this time to ''Roy of the Rovers''. New adventures were included in the weekly comic until May 1990 (later followed by reprints), before he switched to ''Best of Roy of the Rovers Monthly''. Hot Shot Hamish
''Hot Shot Hamish'' and ''Mighty Mouse'' were two popular British football-themed comic strips, which later merged and appeared in various publications from the 1970s to the 1990s. Both are amongst the best remembered football characters from the "golden age" of British boys' comics. John J. Mellencamp (born October 7, 1951), previously known as Johnny Cougar, John Cougar, and John Cougar Mellencamp, is an American singer-songwriter. He is known for his catchy brand of heartland rock, which emphasizes traditional instrumentation. Mellencamp rose to fame in the 1980s while "honing an almost startlingly plainspoken writing style" that, starting in 1982, yielded a string of Top 10 singles, including "Hurts So Good", "Jack & Diane", "Crumblin' Down", "Pink Houses", "Lonely Ol' Night", "Small Town", "R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A.", "Paper in Fire", and "Cherry Bomb". Roy Of The Rovers
''Roy of the Rovers'' is a British comic strip about the life and times of a fictional footballer and later manager named Roy Race, who played for Melchester Rovers. The strip first appeared in the ''Tiger'' in 1954, before giving its name to a weekly (and later monthly) comic, published by IPC and Fleetway from 1976 until 1995, in which it was the main feature. The weekly strip ran until 1993, following Roy's playing career until its conclusion after he lost his left foot in a helicopter crash. When the monthly comic was launched later that year the focus switched to Roy's son Rocky, who also played for Melchester. This publication was short-lived, and folded after only 19 issues. The adventures of the Race family were subsequently featured in the monthly ''Match of the Day'' football magazine, in which father and son were reunited as manager and player respectively.
